This portion of the USGS data release presents bathymetry data collected during surveys performed on the Elwha River delta, Washington in September 2014 (USGS Field Activity Number 2014-649-FA). Bathymetry data were collected using two personal watercraft (PWCs), each equipped with single-beam sonar systems and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. The PWC sonar systems consisted of an Odom Echotrac CV-100 single-beam echosounder and 200 kHz transducer with a 9° beam angle. Raw acoustic backscatter returns were digitized by the echosounder with a vertical resolution of 1.25 cm. Depths from the echosounders were computed using sound velocity profiles measured using a YSI CastAway CTD during the survey....

The Carr Fire ignited in northern California on July 23, 2018, and over the following six weeks burned almost 300,000 acres (approximately half on federal lands), resulting in a federal major-disaster declaration (DR-4382). Approximately 93 percent of the area within Whiskeytown National Recreation Area was burned extensively during the Carr Fire, including all of the landscape surrounding and draining into Whiskeytown Lake. Whiskeytown Lake, a federally managed reservoir, therefore acted as a sediment trap for material eroded from hillslopes and streambeds in the aftermath of the Carr Fire. The U.S. Geological Survey has measured topographic change associated with sediment deposition and erosion in and around Whiskeytown...

This data release contains model inputs used to estimate surface water greenhouse gas fluxes from two large arid reservoirs, Lake Powell and Lake Mead. The release also contains empirical, spatially explicit water quality and greenhouse gas data from a single field survey conducted in Lake Powell in July of 2017. Finally, this release contains surface area estimates of shallow (< 15m) tributary regions of Lake Powell under different water level scenarios.

These data sets were derived from surveys at the Missouri River and Papillion Creek Water Resource Recovery Facility outfalls on the Missouri River. Each site had three transects, one at the outfall, one 45.7 meters upstream of the outfall and one 45.7 meters downstream of the outfall. Velocity and depth data were collected using an acoustic Doppler current profiler at each transect. Elevations of water surface, bank topography, and shallow channel bed elevations were collected at each transect using survey grade Global Navigation and Satellite System instruments connected to the High Precision Real-Time Kinematic (HPRTK) correction service (https://hprtk.net). Data were processed using Velocity Mapping Toolbox:...
These data consist of measurements of riverbed and floodplain bathymetry and topography, measurements of water-surface elevations and ancillary data. These data are specific to the corridor of the Colorado River from the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers near Spanish Bottom, Utah in Canyonlands National Park to the confluence with the Dirty Devil River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The time period for these data are 2020 and 2021. The raster data are digital elevation models (DEMs) for segments of the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park, Utah and include both bathymetric and topographic data. The data collected in 2020 consist of bathymetric and topographic data for segments of the Colorado...

This dataset is a digital surface model of the slope for six sites where known rock structures exist in the St. Croix River. Slope is the gradient, or rate of maximum change in elevation, and is derived from the DEM. Slope measures will be used for investigating the use of hydroacoustic technologies for quantifying habitat for imperiled mussels Spectaclecase (Margaritifera monodonta) and Salamander (Simpsonaias ambigua) typically associated with rock structures (e.g., wing dams, revetment) in rivers. Slope is a driver of energy below the water and influences biotic diversity, distribution, and the functional traits of those biota. Slope is expressed in degrees; it calculates the maximum rate of change in value from...

This part of the data release contains high-resolution acoustic-backscatter data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center at three study locations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, California. Data were collected in Lindsey Slough in April 2017, Middle River in March 2018, and Mokelumne River in March 2018, using an interferometric bathymetric sidescan sonar systems mounted to the USGS R/V Parke Snavely. Data are provided in 1-m resolution GeoTIFF formats. These data were collected as part of a study of the effects of invasive aquatic vegetation on sediment transport in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) started collecting high-resolution multibeam echosounder (MBES) data on Lake Koocanusa. The survey originated near the International Boundary (River Mile (RM) 271.0) and extended down the reservoir, hereinafter referred to as downstream, about 1.4 miles downstream of the Montana 37 Highway Bridge near Boulder Creek (about RM 253). USACE continued the survey in 2017, completing a reach that extended from about RM 253 downstream to near Tweed Creek (RM 244.5). In 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Idaho Water Science Center completed the remaining portion of the reservoir from RM 244.5 downstream to Libby Dam (RM 219.9). The MBES data collected in 2016 and 2017...
