Species occurrence records of the taxonomic class of Bivalvia in oceans within 1000 kilometers of the United States shoreline. This is a subset of the OBIS-USA dataset where Bivalvia records were queried on December 2, 2014. After initial queries, the remaining data were further queried to retain only samples within 1000 kilometers of the U.S. shoreline. Spatial queries were then used to remove samples overlaying land masses. Data are provided in a geodatabase format, as well as a comma seperated values format. OBIS-USA provides aggregated, interoperable biogeographic data collected primarily from U.S. waters and oceanic regions--the Arctic, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and...

Dataset incorporates species locations and depicts species richness across the state of Florida by several governmental and non-governmental organizations (see full list below). This dataset focuses on the species that contribute to the general biodiversity of Florida’s ecosystems and are not protected nor do they have restrictions on their harvest. This raster dataset merges a variety of spatial datasets that focus on specific regions or species of Florida. Additionally, three of the datasets were separated and then recombined into larger datasets based on the species classification. This dataset depicts the biodiversity species classification from the smaller datasets. The species location datasets in this dataset...

Some species respond to environments directly related to altitudinal variation. Elevation (e.g., DEM) is easily implemented in spatial modeling by limiting the model to the minimum and maximum values explicitly stated in the literature. DEMs are utilized directly and are measured in meters above mean sea level. The elevation dataset was derived from the National Elevation Dataset, elevation units are reported in meters. For more information regarding the National Elevation Dataset, see http://ned.usgs.gov/. This is a continuous data layer. These data are divided into 6 regions across the US (Northwest, Southwest, Great Plains, Upper Midwest, Southeast, and Northeast). If you want complete coverage of the entire...

These data include species occurrence records of fish in oceans within 1000 kilometers of the United States shoreline. This dataset is a subset of the OBIS-USA dataset as of December 2, 2014 and includes records of the taxonomic groups of Actinopterygii, Chondrichthyes, Myxini, Osteichthyes, and Petromyzontida. After initial taxonomic queries, the remaining data were further queried to retain only samples within 1000 kilometers of the U.S. shoreline. Spatial queries were then used to remove samples overlaying land masses. Data are provided in a geodatabase format, as well as a comma seperated values format. A GIS-based analysis was used to model habitat connectivity in the three Okanagan Regional Districts in British Columbia: the North Okanagan Regional District, the Central Okanagan Regional District and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen. This model integrated a series of parameters to identify connected and potentially fragmented habitats. The model was not specific to a particular species. The goal was to identify portions of the landscape offering a higher opportunity for wildlife movement at a regional scale. The following parameters were used to model connectivity corridors: Elevation – Lower elevations (i.e., the valley) receive higher scores; Slope – Steep slopes receive lower scores; Terrain Ruggedness...

This dataset was created to serves as one sub-layer of the Florida Marine Blueprint. The Florida Marine Blueprint was created to aid in prioritizing ecosystems and habitats derived from species biodiversity, highly valued habitat and potential marine migratory corridors. Highest priority areas are those where there is high species biodiversity/richness and overlaps in valued habitats. The Blueprint will then be used to inform where potential management and conservation practices should be focused and potentially carried out.
