The Blueprint provides planners and managers across organizations the opportunity to align their efforts to protect fish and wildlife habitat, improve quality of life for people, and develop strong economies. The Blueprint includes assessments of future land use change, including sea level rise and urban growth projections, to assist in shaping a more resilient landscape and a sustainable future for natural resources in Florida. The Blueprint will continue to be refined in the future as new/improved data become available. The Blueprint can be used for decision support to: -Prioritize conservation actions/investments -Plan for natural disasters -Develop incentive programs -Increase success in securing grant funds...

Large forest blocks are important features on the landscape and worthy of conservation attention. Maintenance of large blocks of intact habitat is perhaps the most oft recommended biodiversity conservation strategy. We created a map of large forest blocks by selecting all of the forest formations from the Ecological Systems dataset and converting this raster coverage into a polygon coverage using ArcMap. We then used the area function within the resulting attribute table to calculate areas of forest habitats across the state. Last, we classified them according to parameters originally developed by the Orange County Open Space Plan (Orange County Planning Department, 2004) and further utilized by Cornell University’s...

This dataset represents the North Atlantic LCC's ecoregion boundary. Landscape conservation cooperatives (LCCs) are conservation-science partnerships between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and other federal agencies, states, tribes, NGOs, universities and stakeholders within a geographically defined area. They inform resource management decisions to address national-scale stressors-including habitat fragmentation, genetic isolation, spread of invasive species, and water scarcity-all of which are accelerated by climate change.
Conservation priority ranks and threat metrics for each drainage catchment in the Lower Colorado River Basin. Catchments are the drainage area (local watersheds) for each individual stream segment within the 1:100,000 scale National Hydrography Plus Version 1 (NHDPlusV1) dataset. Catchments are assigned conservation priority ranks (C_ConsVal) between 0 - 1 with 1 being the highest priority.

Taken from the DMP: "Georeferencing of plots and determination of site conditions using GIS. Accuracy of plot abundance values assessed with vegetation maps, satellite imagery, and expert consultation. Ten native and five invasive species of trees, shrubs and ferns were selected based on their potential ecological importance in communities, as well as how much field data was available to analyze for this study. For baseline climate condition variables, we used surface temperature and rainfall estimates (30 year baseline period, 1978–2007) developed by Giambelluca et al. (2013) with grid cell resolution of 250m. To estimate climate change responses, we used future projected climate variables developed by the International...

Estimated number of breeding pairs of Dickcissel based on the amount of grass, trees, and/or hay in the landscape. Landscape scale varied from 1/4- to 2-mile radius depending on the species. Pair estimates were calculated for grass patches >=1 ha, extrapolated to 40-ac cells, then smoothed by averaging over a 1-mile radius. Models were based on point count surveys conducted in 2003-2005 throughout the Tallgrass Prairie Pothole Region. Point count locations were stratified by cover type, the amount of grass in the landscape, and USFWS Wetland Management District boundaries. Landcover data were derived from 2000 Thematic Mapper imagery. Grid values = number of breeding pairs per 30-m pixel.

A GIS-based analysis was used to model habitat connectivity in the three Okanagan Regional Districts in British Columbia: the North Okanagan Regional District, the Central Okanagan Regional District and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen. This model integrated a series of parameters to identify connected and potentially fragmented habitats. The model was not specific to a particular species. The goal was to identify portions of the landscape offering a higher opportunity for wildlife movement at a regional scale. The following parameters were used to model connectivity corridors: Elevation – Lower elevations (i.e., the valley) receive higher scores; Slope – Steep slopes receive lower scores; Terrain Ruggedness...

This dataset was created to serves as one sub-layer of the Florida Marine Blueprint. The Florida Marine Blueprint was created to aid in prioritizing ecosystems and habitats derived from species biodiversity, highly valued habitat and potential marine migratory corridors. Highest priority areas are those where there is high species biodiversity/richness and overlaps in valued habitats. The Blueprint will then be used to inform where potential management and conservation practices should be focused and potentially carried out.

Forest cores are derived by applying an inverse buffer (-100m) to forest patches to represent the area of contiguous interior forest habitat. Forest patches are defined as areas of contiguous natural cover bound by non-natural edge or linear fragmenting features (roads, railroads, transmission lines, natural gas pipelines). The following land cover types were selected from the 2006 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) to define “natural cover”: deciduous forest, coniferous forest, mixed [deciduous-coniferous] forest, scrub-shrub, woody wetland, and emergent wetland. Forest patches were delineated based on non-forest edge (from the NLCD) and the following linear fragmenting features:electric transmission lines (from...

Mississippi River Basin Gridded SSURGO mapunits where "pwsl1pomu" (wetland potential) is at least 60 or at least 50 and "drclassdcd" (Drainage Class - Dominant Condition) is poorly or very poorly drained. These mapunits represent those with the highest wetland potential based on these criteria.

These datasets represent model results from Rabotyagov et. al. 2014. Cost-effective targeting of conservation investments to reduce the northern Gulf of Mexico hypoxic zone. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. 111 (52): 18530-18535. The authors developed an integrated assessment model linking the water quality effects of cropland conservation investment decisions on the more than 550 agricultural subwatersheds that deliver nutrients into the Gulf of Mexico with a hypoxic zone model. The model was used to identify the most cost-effective subwatersheds to target for cropland conservation investments. The 60% reduction [60PCT] model could cost-effectively reduce the area of the hypoxic zone to 5,000 km2,...

This data is for planning purposes only. LCCs are applied conservation science partnerships with two main functions. The first is to promote collaboration among their members in defining shared conservation goals. With these goals in mind, partners can identify where and how they will take action, within their own authorities and organizational priorities, to best contribute to the larger conservation effort. The second function of LCCs is to provide the science and technical expertise needed to address the shared priorities and support conservation planning at landscape scales – beyond the scope and authority of any one organization. The organizational model of the LCC Network was intentionally structured to operate...
