Breeding Bird Survey Relative Abundance for Field Sparrow
Database of 122 Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) demographic monitoring stations that operated for four or more years in the period 1992-2008 throughout Washington, Oregon and northern California. Cluster analysis (Ward's-K) of capture data (individual birds) from these stations revealed six distinct avian communities classified by forest type and condition that correspond to the distribution of USDA/FIA Forest Group classifications. Predicted Wood Thrush AHY Captures (per station-year) I applied the second equivalent model (by ICOMP) to mapping predicted number of WOTH AHY captures. The model features affinities to deciduous forest in the 5km context (median >50%), and above ground biomass (median 94 MG/ha) which infers that captures increase from mid-successional deciduous forest through mature forest habitat). The selected model suggests that conservation of Wood Thrush breeding habitat must preserve large tracts of mature deciduous forest.
