Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Avian Data Center! Here you can find information resulting from a wide variety of surveys conducted by RMBO and its partners. Users can query out count data, occupancy results, density results, and generate maps of survey locations. You may want to read the Usage Tips for information and tips on running queries. If you’re a manager and wondering how you might be able to use this information please visit our Using Estimates page for more information. The Rocky Mountain Avian Data Center is designed to provide information for specific questions and therefore works best when users select multiple filters for a query.
Project Goals and Objectives:1) increase the utility of the International Shorebird Survey (ISS) for making shorebird management and conservation decisions within the South Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative, and2) create a single data management system that can service all partners along the Atlantic coastProject Summary:The utility of the International Shorebird Survey (ISS) has been greatly improved with an upgraded, user-friendly interface for data entry and retrieval. Manomet and ISS have contributed to the increasingly powerful citizen science bird records mechanism in eBird. Historic ISS data collected largely by volunteers as well as professional federal and state biologists over the last 40 years...

The Desert LCC identified the need for a Protected Areas spatial database that showed land ownership, management designations and conservation status for lands in the United States and Mexico. However, the existing Protected Areas database was found to be particularly prone to boundary and database errors that affected its potential use. This USGS project will develop a single, seamless, error-free Protected Areas dataset for the full geographic scope of the Desert LCC. This will involve acquiring numerous spatial layers from Federal, State, and NGO organizations which are responsible for administering and/or managing areas that have a designated protected status. Protected Area will be categorized as defined by...

The first part of this webinar will provide an introduction on the need for the development of the Inland Cutthroat Trout Viewing and Editing Web Application. This includes information about the Cutthroat Conservation and Recovery Teams and the value of the Inland Cutthroat Protocol for maintaining current information on species and habitat status, as well as other benefits. The second part is a demonstration of the recently completed web application. This demonstration will cover the map navigation and stream attribute viewer, and editing capabilities, which include tabular attributes as well as geospatial data components. Cutthroat trout covered in this tool are Rio Grande, Colorado River, and Greenback, in each...
In its first funded year this project created an online environment in which land managers and their technical support staff can quickly find the climate adaptation information they need and communicate with the researchers producing the data. Phase 2 of the project focused on reaching out to the user community to get them engaged in the Climate Commons, and continuing development of the site. In year 3 and beyond, the Climate Commons became the CA LCC’s project data management platform as well as a digital library offering a starting place to find climate change science relevant to conservation decision-making. http://climate.calcommons.org.

This project supports a collaborative, multi-stakeholder effort led by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to develop a largescale vulnerability assessment and associated adaptation strategies for focal resources of the Sierra Nevada. The purpose of this effort is to provide information and tools for Forest Planning and management (e.g., NEPA analyses, Forest Plan revisions, Climate Scorecard) and other natural resource management (e.g., SWAP) and conservation efforts to prepare for climate change impacts in the Sierra Nevada. Specifically, our objectives are to: (1) assess the vulnerability of focal resources to climate change, (2) use spatial analysis and expert input to prioritize conservation areas or actions, and...

This project is designed to develop a spatial database to track prescribed burns conducted in Florida. The contract recipient will build a spatial database of no less than 10 years of previous prescribed fires (2006-2016), identified by the Florida Forest Service (FFS) burn permit database. The spatial database will be built upon existing spatial fire databases, particularly the Department of Defense (DoD) burn database implemented at Air Force bases in Florida. In populating the database, the vendor will develop and document methodologies to map spatial fire footprints using Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing techniques. The database will be developed on a platform that will be accessible by...

The purpose of this project was to design a national bat monitoring strategy to be used by State, Provincial, and Federal agencies, Tribes, and other partner organizations to monitor bat populations at various spatial scales. Another purpose was to establish a robust database to house the monitoring data as it is collected and maximize the utility of the data to researchers and resource managers. This was a coordinated effort among scientists and researchers in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Geological Survey, National Park Service, and University of Tennessee, National Institute of Mathematical and Biological Synthesis.
