The Fort Morgan 7.5' quadrangle is located on the semiarid plains of northeastern Colorado, along the South Platte River corridor where the river has incised into Upper Cretaceous Pierre Shale. The Pierre Shale is largely covered by surficial deposits that formed from alluvial, eolian, and hillslope processes operating in concert with environmental changes from the late Pliocene to the present. The South Platte River, originating high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, has played a major role in shaping surficial geology in the map area, which is several tens of kilometers downstream from where headwater tributaries join the river. This data release contains two tabular data sets of water-quality data collected on the East Fork Carson River. EFCR_CQW.xlsx is a Microsoft Excel workbook containing continuous water-quality data collected by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) at a site on the East Fork Carson River over two time periods in 2010 and 2012. A new method for frequency analysis of hydrologic time series was developed to facilitate the estimation and reconstruction of individual or groups of frequencies from hydrologic time-series and facilitate the comparison of these isolated time-series components across data types, between different hydrologic settings within a watershed, between watersheds, and across frequencies. Wavelet analysis is a powerful tool with which to analyse the hydrologic effects of dam construction and operation on river systems. Using continuous records of instantaneous discharge from the Lees Ferry gauging station and records of daily mean discharge from upstream tributaries, we conducted wavelet analyses of the hydrologic structure of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon. This dataset presents summaries of the minimum and maximum discharge at gaging stations on the Colorado River and tributaries. Data were collected from USGS for each gaging station, and summarized into seasonal averages. The averages are for the period of record of each gage up to 9/30/2010; the period of record varies widely across the gaging stations. Data were summarized in the associated spreadsheet: Vector\Attributes\Aquatic\Documentation\SOD_selected_gaging_station_data.xlsx for each gaging station. The average minima and maxima values were attached to a copy of the gaging stations point dataset to create this dataset.

The supplemental data presented here contains raster data in .tif format of the empirically estimated mean annual (1987-2015) net evapotranspiration (ETnet) for the Harney Basin Groundwater Evapotranspiration Area. The final mean annual ETnet estimate for the Harney Basin was determined using both empirical and physics-based methods. The final ETnet estimate was combined with additional data to estimate groundwater discharge through evapotranspiration (ET) in the Harney Basin. Increasing temperatures and decreasing precipitation threaten the persistence of the Rio Grande cutthroat trout, the southernmost subspecies of cutthroat trout, found only in parts of New Mexico and Colorado. This subspecies appears to be more vulnerable to drought than more northern subspecies, because it occupies small and fragmented streams which are at greater risk of drying up during drought. The Tenaya Lake Water Budget Study seeks to quantify and understand the water balance within the principal snow accumulation and runoff yielding zone in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Study operates stage sensors and data loggers to record Tenaya Lake inflows, water surface elevation, and outflow, with continuous annual data collection for the 21 square-kilometer watershed located in the alpine zone of Yosemite National Park.
