Data on changing hydrogeomorphic characteristics along river gradients from nontidal through tidal freshwater to oligohaline reaches along the Mattaponi and Pamunkey Rivers, Virginia. Shapefile data include location and elevation profiles of the river valleys along multiple digital cross-sections from lidar digital elevation models, satellite visible imagery, and geographic information system analysis. These data were used to help interpret fundamental changes in regime along rivers as they transition from watersheds into the coastal zone.

The South Atlantic Conservation Blueprint is a living spatial plan to conserve natural and cultural resources for future generations. It identifies shared conservation priorities across the South Atlantic region. The second iteration of the Blueprint, Version 2.0, was released in July 2015. It was a completely data-driven plan based on ecosystem indicator models for terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments, as well as a connectivity analysis. Blueprint 2.0 used a 200 m spatial scale. With Version 2.0, the total number of people actively involved in developing the Blueprint grew to more than 400 individuals from over 100 organizations.

From 16 June to 30 July, 2021, a Virginia Tech team of 4-6 sampled the fish community in 30 Shenandoah Valley streams (Virginia and West Virginia, USA) as part of a larger stream-health study including other teams who surveyed geomorphology, water quality, flow, temperature, macroinvertebrates, and fish health at the same 30 streams. The fish community team also sampled three additional bonus streams (SiteID's FOLL, NAKE, and TUMB) during 19-22 August, 2021. These 33 streams had upstream drainage areas of 7 to 46 sq. km and included 4 James River tributaries (SiteID's POAG, MLRB, CEDR, PISG), one Potomac River tributary (HARL), and 28 Shenandoah River tributaries. This report provides a first-ever compilation of what is known—and not known—about climate change effects on marine and coastal ecosystems in the geographic extent of the North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC). The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service funded this report to help inform members of the newly established NPLCC as they assess priorities and begin operations. Production of this report was guided by University of Washington’s Climate Impacts Group and information was drawn from more than 250 documents and more than 100 interviews. The dataset is composed of three data tables containing information from electrofishing and pebble count surveys conducted in tributaries to the Mohawk River in central and eastern New York during 2019. The first table contains information on the sampled reaches, the second table contains fish collection data, and the third table contains pebble count data.

Over the summer of 2020, the Illinois Waterway (IWW) was closed to complete maintenance on lock chambers along the Illinois River. This closure restricted vessel traffic along the river and potentially changed habitat characteristics for aquatic vegetation establishment and growth. To assess if patterns of vegetation establishment and growth changed during the closure, peak biomass imagery from 2019 (pre closure) and 2021 (post closure) were compared for a vegetation response. This assessment found locations where aquatic vegetation increased and locations where aquatic vegetation decreased.

Field data for vertical profiles of light and water quality parameters were collected biweekly between May and November in 2019 and June and October in 2020 in association with continuous monitoring platforms in Owasco, Seneca, and Skaneateles Lakes, Finger Lakes Region, New York. Water quality profiles were collected using Yellow Spring Instruments (YSI) EXO2 sondes and light profiles were collected using a LI-COR Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) sensor in 2019 and Onset HOBO Pendant Temperature and Light data loggers in 2020. Historic wetland footprints produced by combining National Wetland Inventory (NWI, 2009 updated), NRCS hydric soils data, and contemporary field surveys. These historic footprints provide the basis for restoration implementation within the Rainwater Basin Wetland Complex. This data was revised in 2016, succeeding the 2004 version. The 2016 revisions included eliminating historic wetland survey data, replacing NWI with the 2009 updated data, and inclusion of Olbut soils as a hydric soil class.

The data being released were part of a project funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). This study sought to identify the planktonic communities (cyanobacteria, eukaryotic algae) potentially contributing to eutrophication within the Grand Calumet River Area of Concern (AOC) in northern Indiana along the southern shore of Lake Michigan. This dataset contains modeled daily lake area, volume, constituent mass, and biogeochemical rates for 3,692 lakes in the Northern Highlands Lake District (NHLD) for one retrospective model run (1986-2010) and 12 model runs under future climate scenarios. This dataset was created using published tools developed to simulate detailed hydrological and biogeochemical fluxes for thousands of lakes and reservoirs over large spatiotemporal scales. This dataset contains data from visual encounter and acoustic surveys in Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas from August 2010 to September 2018. This dataset also includes salinity measurements from nine salinity loggers deployed in the study area.
This U.S. Geological Survey data release consists of a tabular dataset containing stream temperature data. Data were collected every 12-hours from 15 sites in Soldier Meadows, Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area, Nevada. The sites were established by the Bureau of Land Management - Winnemucca District Office in 2017. The data release includes tabular data of site names, date and time of temperature measurement, and stream temperature in degrees Celsius. The site locations are included below as a shapefile, exported from the National Water Information System (NWIS) Mapper.
