The Middle Fork Willamette River basin encompasses 3,548 square kilometers of western Oregon and drains to the mainstem Willamette River. Fall Creek basin encompasses 653 square kilometers and drains to the Middle Fork Willamette River. In cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Geological Survey evaluated geomorphic responses of downstream river corridors to annual drawdowns to streambed at Fall Creek Lake. This study of geomorphic change is focused on the major alluvial channel segments downstream of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ dams on Fall Creek and the Middle Fork Willamette River, as well as the 736 hectare Fall Creek Lake. Reservoir erosion during streambed drawdown results in sediment...

Understanding how sea-level rise will affect coastal landforms and the species and habitats they support is critical for crafting approaches that balance the needs of humans and native species. Given this increasing need to forecast sea-level rise effects on barrier islands in the near and long terms, we are developing Bayesian networks to evaluate and to forecast the cascading effects of sea-level rise on shoreline change, barrier island state, and piping plover habitat availability. We use publicly available data products, such as lidar, orthophotography, and geomorphic feature sets derived from those, to extract metrics of barrier island characteristics at consistent sampling distances. The metrics are then incorporated...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, has compiled a series of geospatial datasets for Puerto Rico to be implemented into the USGS StreamStats application (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ss/). These geospatial datasets, along with basin characteristics datasets for Puerto Rico published as a separate USGS data release (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9HK9SSQ), were used to delineate watersheds and develop the peak-flow and low-flow regression equations used by StreamStats. The geospatial dataset described herein are the sink watershed grid rasters at a 10-m resolution. A value is assigned to pixels in each sink watershed and the count of cells that drain to that...

This part of DS 781 presents data for the sediment-thickness map of the Pigeon Point to Monterey, California, map region. The raster data file is included in "SedimentThickness_PigeonPointToMontereyBay.zip," which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/F7N29V0Z. As part of the USGS's California State Waters Mapping Project, a 50-m-resolution grid of sediment thickness for the seafloor within the limit of California’s State Waters between Pigeon Point and southern Monterey Bay was generated from seismic-reflection data collected in 2009, 2010, and 2011 (USGS activities (S-15-10-NC, S-N1-09-MB, and S-06-11-MB) supplemented with outcrop and geologic structure from DS 781. Isopach contours at 2.5-meter intervals...

This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey over parts of northwestern Minnesota near the town of Mentor. The airborne survey was funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of 40,139-line km of magnetic data were acquired over an irregular-shaped area of 9140 km2. Data were collected from a fixed-wing aircraft flown at mean terrain clearance of 120 meters (m) above topography along N-S flight lines spaced at 250 m intervals. Tie lines were flown in an E-W direction every 2500 m. Data were collected by EDCON-PRJ and NV5 Geospatial,...
