GHG1 Commuter Survey Introduction On October 5, 2009, the President signed Executive Order (EO) 13514 – Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance.1 The goal of EO 13514 is "to establish an integrated strategy towards sustainability in the Federal Government and to make reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) a priority for Federal agencies." The EO requires federal agencies to meet a series of deadlines critical to achieving GHG reduction goals, including a comprehensive GHG inventory due from each of the agencies by January 31, 2011.
