In cooperation with more than 10 local, State, and Federal stakeholders, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) is studying the aquifer systems in and near the Mississippi River alluvial plain (https://www2.usgs.gov/water/lowermississippigulf/map/index.html). This data release consists of continuous resistivity profiling (CRP) data collected by the USGS to characterize the electrical properties of geomorphological features in the part of the Mississippi River alluvial plain from Money, Miss. to Steiner, Miss. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DETAILED AQUIFER MAPPING PROGRAM In 1980 the U.S. Geological Survey began a Detailed Aquifer Mapping Program in upstate New York, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), funded by the USEPA's Underground Injection Control Program. The objective of this program was to define the hydrogeology of 21 extensively used (primary) stratified-drift aquifers in upstate New York, and to present the information as individual sets of maps at 1:24,000 scale. Each published report from this program describes the hydrogeology of a specific aquifer or segment of aquifer, and depicts selected hydrogeologic characteristics. Floods in the 1980s and 90s in the region brought back large swaths of native riparian habitat, which still persist today in some areas along the river.
