This geologic map database is a reproduction of U.S. Geological Survey Miscellaneous Investigations Map I–2362: “Geologic Map and Structure Sections of the Clear Lake Volcanics, Northern California” (Hearn, Donnelly-Nolan, and Goff, 1995). The database consists of a geologic map, three structural cross sections and a table of petrographic data for each map unit by mineral type, abundance, and size. The Clear Lake Volcanics are in the California Coast Ranges about 150 km north of San Francisco. This Quaternary volcanic field has erupted intermittently since 2.1 million years ago. This data release contains a national compilation of state-level qualitative and quantitative guidance for a variety of environmental indicators that are used to identify the presence of a harmful algal bloom (HAB) in freshwater ecosystems. These include qualitative guidelines based on visual or olfactory signals, as well as quantitative guidelines based on cyanotoxin concentrations, algal biomass density, and chlorophyll a concentrations. Many states in the United States have adopted guidelines based on recommendations from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the World Health Organization. Describing the social network that links the interconnected partners is the first step to leverage the network’s capacity to be greater than the sum of its parts. The Northwest Boreal Landscape Conservation Cooperative partners and a social network scientist are applying social network theory to create a system of nodes and edges of a Conservation Social Network. The LCC partners were surveyed in 2015 and again in 2018, in order to measure the dynamics of partner communication. From this research, the partnership aims to better leverage partner expertise and better facilitate collaboration across geographic and organizational boundaries.

This archive contains the logistic mapping output vulnerability difference rasters at the conceptual well locations. Data are provided in rasters containing the differences between estimated probabilities of nitrate concentrations greater than 2 milligrams per liter at hypothetical 150 feet and 300 feet deep wells for sequential five-year categories when one or both of the predicted probabilities was equal to or greater than 50 percent.
The Southeast Natural Resource Leaders Group has undertaken the Landscape Conservation and Restoration Pilot Project (LCRPP) to provide Federal leadership in natural resource protection that will accomplish three goals. The first goal is to develop a consistent approach to understanding the shared values of the natural resource agencies. Surveys for immature life stages of the Samoan swallowtail butterfly (Papilio godeffroyi) were conducted on 117 individually marked host trees (Micromelum minutum) in eight forest stands on Tutuila Island, American Samoa, at approximately monthly intervals during 2013-2014. The eight stands were mostly in or adjacent to the National Park of American Samoa (NPSA), but one stand was sampled near the western tip of Tutuila, outside NPSA. An additional 74 host trees were assessed for phenological status in the eight stands but were not surveyed for Papilio. This dataset contains information on the area and number of host trees surveyed for Papilio or phenology in each stand.

The Forest to Faucets dataset provides a watershed index of surface drinking water importance, a watershed index of forest importance to surface drinking water, and a watershed index to highlight the extent to which development, fire, and insects and disease threaten forests important for surface drinking water. This layer displays the percent of the HUC watershed that is threatened bu insects and disease. Data represent presence/absence for cedar decline occurrence. Cedar decline refers to the dying or decline of yellow-cedar (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) forests in Southeast Alaska and is characterized by red or yellow foliage in trees currently dying, or by white-gray snags of old mortality. Mapped snags can be standing dead as long as eighty years. The data were collected via aerial sketch mapping techniques and recorded on 1:250,000 USGS base maps from 500-3000 foot above ground level(AGL) observations. There have been increasing concerns regarding the decline in moose numbers along the southern range of their North American distribution. This has prompted varied research efforts to determine the factors contributing to the reduced local populations. Although heat stress from increasing temperatures could be a potential factor for declining populations in Minnesota, temperature increases have also occurred in New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut where populations have been expanding in recent years. The data consist of blood chemistry and hematology from sea otters captured at sites along the Aleutian archipelago, the Alaska Peninsula, the Gulf of Alaska, and Prince William sound between 2004 and 2012. The data include the blood chemistry and hematology findings as well as general capture location, if the sea otter population in that area is declining, capture date, age estimate, age class, sex, and a unique sea otter number connecting the sample to gene expression data.
Three datasets are included: 1) survival of domesticated canaries and American crows following sub-cutaneous challenges ranging from 101 – 105 plaque forming units of West Nile virus. 2) Arbitrary units of WNV detected by RT-PCR or plaque forming units of WNV cultured in vero cells in 4 separate studies. Culture results are indicated for each day post WNV challenge. 3) Weight (mass) changes in grams in canaries and crows each day following WNV challenge. Day 0 (inoculation) set to 0 gms, then each subsequent day is change in gms from previous day.

Heavy and light mineral separates were extracted from the 36 collected field samples following a USGS procedure (Strong and Driscoll, 2016) and analyzed using the handheld portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analyzer as part of a study examining the occurrence of chromium and natural and anthropogenic hexavalent Chromium, Cr(VI), in groundwater. Data will be used to estimate naturally-occurring background Cr(VI) concentrations upgradient, near the plume margins, and downgradient from a mapped Cr(VI) contamination plume near Hinkley, CA (Izbicki and Groover, 2016). This feature class includes monitoring data collected nationally to understand the status, condition, and trend of resources on BLM lands. Data are collected in accordance with the Interpreting Indicators for Rangeland Health (IIRH) method. The IIRH method is a qualitative assessment of rangeland health, defined as "the degree to which the integrity of the soil, vegetation, water, and air, as well as the ecological processes of the rangeland ecosystem are balanced and sustained." This data represents areas of forest damage due to insect infestation, fire, flood, landslides, and windthrow. The information was collected, cooperatively by aerial surveys by both the USFS, Forest Health Protection (FHP) and ADNR, Div. of Forestry. Surveys are conducted primarily in July and August so that pest "signatures" may be identified during the optimal period for symptom development of ocular estimation. The aerial survey is coordinated such that the maximum extent of recent bark beetle damage (fading trees) and insect defoliation (discoloration, foliage loss) patterns may be determined. 2010 USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region Aerial Detection Survey Data. This data depicts the occurrence and location of forest insect, disease, and other biotic and abiotic causes of tree mortality and tree damage. Aerial survey data is collected by observing areas of tree damage or tree mortality from an aircraft and manually recording the information onto a map. Due to the nature of aerial surveys, this data will only provide rough estimates of location, intensity and the resulting trend information for agents detectable from the air. These data are nutrition, economic value, and climate vulnerability of inland recreational consumption by country. The dietary contribution is measured as calcium, omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid (hereafter referred as DHA+EPA), iron, protein, vitamin B12, and zinc supply. This data release documents chemical analyses of environmental samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Lakeport (Lake County, California) during July 11-12, 2022. Environmental samples were collected at selected sites to assess the effects of lead-based paint on soil chemistry. This sampling was made as part of a broader study to attribute sources of lead in soils in cooperation with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) for their Lead-Acid Battery Recycling Facility Investigation and Cleanup (LABRIC) program.
