A revised regional groundwater-flow model using a modified grid in conjunction with USGS MODFLOW-2000 was developed to the predict the effects of Lower Floridan aquifer (LFA) groundwater pumpage on the Upper Floridan aquifer (UFA) in the Barbour Pointe community, Chatham County, Georgia. The model was modified using hydrogeologic information obtained from field investigations at Barbour Pointe, Berwick Plantation near Berwick, Pooler, Hunter Army Airfield, Rincon, and Fort Stewart.

This dataset consists of contours showing the generalized saturated thickness of the shallow groundwater system in the Lower Gunnison River Basin in Delta, Montrose, Ouray, and Gunnison Counties, Colorado. Saturated thickness was contoured from values in the raster dataset satthk. The U.S. Geological Survey prepared this dataset in cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

This raster dataset shows the thickness of the alluvium in the Lower Arkansas River Valley, Southeast Colorado. The bottom boundary defined by bedrock (Hurr and Moore, 1972; Nelson and others, 1989a, b, c) and top boundary defined by land surface from U.S. Geological Survey National Elevation Dataset (2016). All interpolation and geoprocessing was completed in ArcGIS Desktop v10 (Environmental Systems Research Institute, 2011).

The nature of carbon (C) cycling in the vadose zone where groundwater is in contact with abundant gas-filled voids is poorly understood. The objective of this study was to trace C cycling in a karst landscape using stable-C isotopes, with emphasis on a shallow groundwater flow path through the soil, to an underlying cave, and to the spring outlet of a cave stream in the Ozark Plateaus of northwestern Arkansas. Blowing Spring Cave (BSC) occurs in the Springfield Plateau of the Ozark Plateaus. Groundwater is an often overlooked freshwater resource compared to surface water, but groundwater is used widely across the United States, especially during periods of drought. In RGTIHM, these wells are considered the Other Texas (OTX) group. Monthly pumping rates are presented in units of cubic feet per day for the period from March 1940 through December 2014.

To identify the degree of hydrologic alteration of streams in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP), we used random forest (RF) regression methods (Breiman, 2001) to model the relation between six selected streamflow characteristics and explanatory variables (such as drainage area, precipitation, soils, and other watershed characteristics). The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the West Virginia Water Gaging Council have proposed an expansion to the existing West Virginia streamgage network. As of December 18, 2018, the USGS operates a network of 149 real-time streamgages in West Virginia. This geospatial dataset provides the approximate locations of 39 proposed streamgages. These streamgages include 31 presently operated by the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and 8 new streamgages. These streamgages may be relocated depending on access and stream conditions, and data users who need precise locations of these streamgages may contact the USGS office in Charleston, West Virginia.

Hydrologic influences on water levels were investigated at Three Oaks Recreation Area (TORA), a former sand-and-gravel quarry converted into recreational lakes in Crystal Lake, Illinois. From 2009 to 2015, average water levels in the lakes declined nearly 4 feet. It was not clear if these declines were related to variations in weather (precipitation or evaporation) or other hydrologic influences such as municipal supply pumping or nearby quarry operations.
