The Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) is a voluntary program administered by the NRCS. It provides technical and financial assistance to private landowners and Tribes to restore, protect, and enhance wetlands in exchange for retiring eligible land from agriculture. For a site to be a wetland eligible for restoration, it must be in a zone with sustained or frequent flooding for a period of 7 consecutive days on average at least once every 2 years (a value termed the 7MQ2). This study calculated the 7MQ2 flows for all the U.S. Geological Survey streamgages within the selected study reaches. These flows were related to the stage discharge tables for each streamgage and a corresponding elevation was determined. By use of...

These data represent total vegetation and surface water along approximately 12 kilometers of the Paria River upstream from the confluence of the Colorado River at Lees Ferry, Arizona. They are derived from airborne, multispectral imagery obtained in late May 2009, 2013, and 2021, collected with a push-broom sensor with 4 spectral bands depicting Blue, Green, Red and Near-Infrared wavelengths at a spatial resolution of 20 centimeters. The vegetation classification data were created using a supervised classification algorithm provided by Harris Geospatial in ENVI version 5.6.3 (Exelis Visual Information Solutions, Boulder, Colorado). The water data were created using a Green Normalized Difference Vegetation Index...

In order to allow for a comparison across years we visually digitized landcover of Poplar Island from a single image per year at a 1:1000 spatial extent with a minimum mapping unit of 300 square meters (no minimum dimensions aside from area). Images used to assign landcover were provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and were captured between July and October of their respective years. All images were 1 foot resolution.

This dataset of the elevation of basement and thickness of sediment above the syn- and post-rift unconformity (sediments above being generally Late Cretaceous and younger) was constructed for application to site response models in earthquake hazard analyses. Sediment thickness in meters is provided in zipped csv format on a 0.01-degree grid, and sediment thickness and basement elevation in meters relative to mean sea level are provided in GeoTIFF format on a 1-km grid.

The Mohorovicic discontinuity or 'Moho' maps the boundary between the earth's crust and mantle and is defined by an abrupt change in seismic velocity due to changes in the density of rocks between the crust and mantle. GeoTIFF grids that map depth to Moho (crustal thickness) for the United States and Canada, and for Australia are provided in this report and were used as evidential layers in developing prospectivity models for basin-hosted Pb-Zn mineralization (Lawley and others, 2022). A composite grid of Moho depths across the United States and Canada was created using data from Shen and Ritzwoller (2016) for the conterminous United States, from Zhang and others (2019) for Alaska, and from Schetselaar and Snyder...

Several evidential layers calculated from the national-scale gravity anomaly map of Australia (Geophysical Acquisition and Processing Section, 2020) are provided here. This directory includes GeoTIFF grids of Bouguer gravity, the horizontal gradient magnitude of the Bouguer gravity, the Bouguer gravity upward continued 30 km, and the horizontal gradient magnitude of the upward continued gravity, The directory also includes shapefiles of locations that trace the maxima of the horizontal gradient magnitude of the gravity and of the maxima of the horizontal gradient magnitude of the upward continued gravity. Otherwise known as “worms”, the points tracking the maxima mark the edges of shallow density sources (in the...

This part of DS 781 presents data for the transgressive contours of the Punta Gorda to Point Arena, California, region. The vector data file is included in the "TransgressiveContours_PuntaGordaToPointArena.zip," which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/P9PNNI9H. As part of the USGS's California State Waters Mapping Project, a 50-m grid of sediment thickness for the seafloor within the 3-nautical mile limit between Punta Gorda and Point Arena was generated from seismic-reflection data collected between 2010 and 2012, and supplemented with geologic structure (fault) information following the methodology of Wong (2012). Water depths determined from bathymetry data were added to the sediment thickness data to...

These data were compiled to demonstrate new predictive mapping approaches and provide comprehensive gridded 30-meter resolution soil property maps for the Colorado River Basin above Hoover Dam. Random forest models related environmental raster layers representing soil forming factors with field samples to render predictive maps that interpolate between sample locations. Maps represented soil pH, texture fractions (sand, silt clay, fine sand, very fine sand), rock, electrical conductivity (ec), gypsum, CaCO3, sodium adsorption ratio (sar), available water capacity (awc), bulk density (dbovendry), erodibility (kwfact), and organic matter (om) at 7 depths (0, 5, 15, 30, 60, 100, and 200 cm) as well as depth to restrictive...

This data release documents the digital data used to produce flood-inundation maps for a range of gage heights (stages) for the Sabinal River near Utopia, Tex. The simulated flood-inundation maps correspond to a range in stage from 7 to 24 feet (ft) at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgage 08197970 Sabinal River at Utopia, Tex. at intervals of 0.5-ft. The maps were created for a 10-mile reach of the Sabinal River from USGS streamgage 08197936 Sabinal River below Mill Creek near Vanderpool, Tex., at the upstream boundary of the study reach, to USGS streamgage 08197970 Sabinal River at Utopia, Tex. Digital flood-inundation polygon shapefiles for an 8.8-mile reach of the North Platte River, from 1.5 miles upstream of the Highway 92 bridge to 3 miles downstream of the Highway 71 bridge, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Cities of Scottsbluff and Gering. The flood-inundation maps, which can be accessed through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Science website at http://water.usgs.gov/osw/flood_inundation/, depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to selected water levels (stages) at the USGS streamgage on the Platte River at Scottsbluff, Nebr. (station 06680500). Near-real-time stages at this streamgage may be obtained on the Internet from...

This database portrays the surface and shallow subsurface geology of the greater Charleston, S.C. region east of 80°30′ west and south of 33°15′ north. The region covers the entirety of Charleston County and portions of Berkeley, Colleton, Dorchester, and Georgetown Counties. Units locally exposed at the surface range in age from middle Eocene to Holocene, but most of the area is covered by Quaternary interglacial deposits. These are, from oldest to youngest, the Okefenokee, Waccamaw(?), Penholoway, Ladson, Ten Mile Hill, and Wando Formations and the Silver Bluff beds. Two cross sections (not included in the database), one running southeast from Harleyville to the coastline on James Island and the other running...

Monroe County, in southeastern West Virginia, hosts world-class karst within carbonate units of Mississippian and Ordovician age. There are at least 412 known caves in the county. Location data for these caves were collected from the West Virginia Speleological Survey (WVASS) Bulletin 22 (Dasher, 2019). Point features were created in ArcGIS Pro for each cave location and were used to make a point density raster. This raster displays the number of cave points per square kilometer.
