Data presented are results of surveys in 2021 for San Diego Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern San Diego County. Surveys were conducted at 378 plots. Plots were surveyed twice in 2021 and the number, age (adult or juvenile), banding status (color banded or not), and breeding status (paired, unpaired, or unknown) of all wrens recorded. Habitat covariate data were collected including amount of dead and stressed cactus in the plot, percent cover of bare ground, and the dominant and percent cover of invasive species.

This dataset contains 4222 point locations corresponding to 136 weather station locations in or bordering Wyoming. Each of the 136 weather stations includes 31 points, with the same latitude longitude, for different years (1970-2000). Each point contains attributes for total precipitation in inches for each month, as well as an annual precipitation for the year. The data were obtained from the Western Regional Climatic data website.

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data along four flight lines were collected in Everglades National Park, Florida as part of a larger survey. Data were collected during October 2001. These lines, totaling 95.2 line-kilometers, repeated the path of four lines from earlier AEM survey collected in December 1994 (released under USGS Open-File Report 02-101 downloadable at https://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/ofr02101). Electromagnetic data were acquired with Dighem VRES frequency-domain system. Magnetic data were collected with a Scintrex CS2 cesium-vapor magnetometer. The nominal elevation of the electromagnetic system was 30 m. This data release includes raw and processed AEM data. This release also...

The Louisiana State Legislature created Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Pelican Island and Pass La Mer to Chaland Pass Resoration (BA-38) project for 2013. This data is used as a basemap habitat classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land...

Data presented are results of surveys (2015) and monitoring (2015 and 2016) for San Diego Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern San Diego County. Surveys were conducted at 35 plots. Plots were surveyed twice in 2015 and the number, age (adult or juvenile), banding status (color banded or not), breeding status (paired, unpaired, or unknown), and nesting status (active nest detected or not) of all wrens recorded. Habitat covariate data were collected including amount of dead and stressed cactus in the plot, percent cover of bare ground, and the dominant and percent cover of invasive species. During weekly monitoring visits, nests were located and checked to determine the number of eggs laid, the...

A complete set of wells associated with oil, natural gas, and coal bed natural gas development in the western states as of June 2004. This is a static dataset even though liquid energy development is a highly dynamic endeavor. Because these well location datasets are generally housed and managed by various state-based agencies (typically the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commissions) a uniform, spatially precise coverage for the western United States has not been available to date. This layer consolidates the best available well location data from ND, SD, MT, WY, CO, NM, UT, AZ, OR, and CA (ID and WA do not report any liquid energy development) and standardizes the attributes. While static as of June 2004 the well...

In 1976-1981, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service conducted systematic surveys of forest birds and plant communities on all of the main Hawaiian Islands as part of the Hawaii Forest Bird Surveys (HFBS; Scott, J.M., S. Mountainspring, F.L. Ramsey, and C.B. Kepler. 1986. Forest bird communities of the Hawaiian Islands: their dynamics, ecology, and conservation. Studies in Avian Biology 9:1-431). Results of this monumental effort have guided conservation efforts and provided the basis for many plant and bird recovery plans and land acquisition decisions in Hawaii during the past two decades. Unfortunately, these estimates and range maps are now seriously outdated, hindering modern conservation decision-making efforts...

The Suitable Habitat boundary identifies areas inside the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem where habitat is deemed suitable for supporting a viable and self-sustaining Yellowstone grizzly bear population into the foreseeable future. The boundary was established by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and formalized in the 2007 Final Rule to remove the Yellowstone grizzly bear from federal protection as a Threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (72 FR 14866 – currently vacated).

Assessing the vulnerability of species or ecosystems to climate change and formulating appropriate management responses requires predictions of the exposure and sensitivity of the species or ecosystems to projected changes. This collaborative effort by the Sonoran Joint Venture, Desert Landscape Conservation Cooperative, and Point Reyes Bird Observatory will develop a foundation for monitoring environmental change in the desert southwest by identifying where and what to monitor in order to evaluate climate-change impacts.Climate change will not have the same effects in all locations of the southwest. Some areas will change quickly (hotspots) and others will change slowly (refugia). Identifying both types of areas...

Problem Dissolved oxygen (DO) is an important indicator of water quality that until recently has been cost-prohibitive to monitor extensively in both space and time. Continuous water-quality data, particularly in coastal environments with bidirectional tidal flow, is necessary for resource managers to understand the dynamic changes in water quality that occur tidally, daily, seasonally, and during aperiodic events. In the estuaries surrounding Long Island, such events may include wastewater treatment plant failures, harmful algal blooms, and extreme weather. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has extensive experience with continuous water-quality monitoring at fixed locations along the coast that provides valuable...
