Survival and growth of stocked razorback sucker and bonytail in multiple floodplain wetlands of the middle Green River under reset conditions

This report represents a river reach application of the reset concept to examine survival and growth of larval razorback sucker and bonytail in floodplains. The floodplain reset concept refers to eliminating residual fish populations from floodplains prior to their connection to the river during spring flood flows. Despite drought conditions, sufficient river flows allowed the evaluation of the reset concept to enhance larval razorback sucker Xyrauchen texanus and bonytail Gila elegans survival during 2003-2004. Storm surge and flood events can assist expansion and distribution of nonindigenous aquatic species through the connection of adjacent watersheds, backflow of water upstream of impoundments, increased downstream flow, and creation of freshwater bridges along coastal regions. Environmental and climatic variables as potential drivers of post-fire cover of cheatgrass ( Bromus tectorum) in seeded and unseeded semiarid ecosystems

Cheatgrass, a non-native annual grass, dominates millions of hectares in semiarid ecosystems of the Intermountain West (USA). Post-fire invasions can reduce native species diversity and alter ecological processes. To curb cheatgrass invasion, land managers often seed recently burned areas with perennial competitor species. We sampled vegetation within burned (19 years post-fire) and nearby unburned (representing pre-fire) pi onjuniper (Pinus edulisJuniperus osteosperma) woodland and sagebrush (Artemisia sp.) in western Colorado to analyze variables that might explain cheatgrass cover after fire. Invasive Plant Survey Within California Coastal Watersheds from Salinas to Tijuana (currently in Draft form). Mitigation of ecological damage caused by rangeland wildfires has historically been an issue restricted to the western United States. It has focused on conservation of ecosystem function through reducing soil erosion and spread of invasive plants. Effectiveness of mitigation treatments has been debated recently. Non-native fishes of the central Indian River Lagoon

We provide a comprehensive review of the status of non-native fishes in the central Indian River Lagoon (from Cape Canaveral to Grant-Valkaria, east of I-95) through literature review and field surveys. Historical records exist for 17 taxa (15 species, one hybrid, one species complex). We found historical records for one additional species and collected one species in our field survey that had never been recorded in the region before (and which we eradicated). Thus, we evaluate 19 total taxa herein.
