This dataset depicts the cooperative interagency 1:24,000 scale land ownership status for the State of Utah. Administrative ownership polygons are updated by The State of Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA) and the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Salt Lake City office on a regular basis. Revisions are posted monthly. This data was originally digitized for the 1993 U. S. Fish and Wildlife Utah GAP Analysis project by the Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratories, Department of Geography and Earth Resources, Utah State University (RSGIS/USU). Maintenance of this data layer is performed by a cooperative federal and state effort. The Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration...
Firm estimates have been given of the oil, gas and gas-liquid reserves that Mexico is likely to develop in the next decade or more. But the decision has yet to be made as to how fast and how far its energy resources should be developed. One faction, including the Pemex technocrats, believe that foreign capital should be utilized with all speed, to accelerate Mexico's export of energy products, especially to the US. Another group argues that the development of domestic and agrarian enterprises should be granted a higher priority. The resolution of the debate, and the recovery of the world oil market, will determine whether Mexico will become one of the richest or the most unstable of the oil exporters in the Third...

These data represent the boundary of the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI). The WLCI is part of the Healthy Lands Initiative (http://www.doi.gov/initiatives/healthylands.html). The boundaries used for creating this dataset are as follows: South: Wyoming-Colorado/Wyoming-Utah State Line West: Wyoming-Utah/Wyoming-Idaho State Line North: Lincoln-Teton/Sublette-Teton/Sublette-Fremont County Line to the eastern most crossing of the Continental Divide East: The Continental Divide The general WLCI boundaries were obtained from an earlier version of these data produced by the BLM. The boundary was updated in an attempt to increase the accuracy using one common source. These data were created via on-screen...
This map layer consists of federally owned or administered lands of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Only areas of 640 acres or more are included. There may be private inholdings within the boundaries of Federal lands in this map layer. This is a revised version of the December 2005 map layer.

Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge Complex includes: Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge and Cokeville Meadows NationalWildlife Refuge. Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is located in southwestern Wyoming. The name Seedskadee originated from the Shoshone Indian word "Sisk-a-dee-agie" meaning "river of the prairie hen." The 27,230 acre Refuge protects a mosaic of riparian, wetland, and upland shrub habitats along 36 miles of the Green River. The river is an oasis that bisects the vast high desert sagebrush plains of southwest Wyoming. Seedskadee NWR was established in 1965 as mitigation for the loss of habitat when Flaming Gorge and Fontenelle dams were constructed. The riparian corridor is an important...

This paper empirically examines the dynamic causal relationships between carbon dioxide emissions, energy consumption, economic growth, trade openness and urbanization for the panel of newly industrialized countries (NIC) using the time series data for the period 1971–2007. Using four different panel unit root tests it is found that all panel variables are integrated of order 1. From the Johansen Fisher panel cointegration test it is found that there is a cointegration vector among the variables. The Granger causality test results support that there is no evidence of long-run causal relationship, but there is unidirectional short-run causal relationship from economic growth and trade openness to carbon dioxide emissions,...

Dataset was clipped to the original WLCI Area of Interest, effective 2007-May 2009, by USGS staff. This layer is based on Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) coordinate data. The locations of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) corners, as represented in geographic coordinate pairs, were derived from a variety of source documents, which include U.S. General Land Office and BLM survey plats/notes, as well as survey data obtained from other U.S. Government agencies, private sector survey firms, and local governments. The attributes assigned to Public Land Survey System (PLSS) polygons were taken from the BLM's Legal Land Description (LLD) data set, contained within the Legacy Rehost for the year 2000 (LR2000) automated...
The Bureau of Land Management's Cadastral Survey Program is one of the oldest and most fundamental functions of the United States Government. Established by the Land Ordinance of 1785, Cadastral surveys are the foundation of our national land tenure system creating, reestablishing, marking, and defining land boundaries. In addition to conducting surveys to meet BLM land management needs, Wyoming Cadastral Survey completes surveys for all federal agencies and Indian Tribes in Wyoming and Nebraska. BLM's Cadastral Survey maintains the essential land grid known as the Rectangular Survey System or Public Land Survey System (PLSS) that is the basis for identification of legal descriptions for land parcels. Growing...

Offshore exploration and production of oil and gas have increased significantly in the last decade. Computer models are used in emergency response, contingency planning, and impact assessment to simulate the behavior of oil and gas if accidentally released from a well, pipeline, or ship. There are two types of models used for this purpose-models that have both plume dynamics stage and the advection diffusion stage and models that are of simplified nature that has only the advection diffusion stage. This paper compares both types of models and shows what information are similar and what are different and under what conditions. The paper also examines in detail about different criteria that can be used as the transition...

Important policy issues concerning the mitigation of impacts from construction and development affecting wetlands are under examination by the U.S. Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, the Environment and Public Works Committee of the U.S. Senate, and the National Wetlands Technical Council. The issues divide into two main parts: (1) how the current strategy to simplify federal regulation of wetlands is limiting the success of mitigation; and (2) how to change the present strategy for mitigation under the U.S. Clean Water Act, if at all. Requirements for site-specific analysis of impacts and their mitigation requirements are being replaced by simple, uniform national guidelines on impact mitigation; these...
