This data set contains distribution information for all birds occurring in the Western Hemisphere. The goal of this project is to make this distributional information freely available to the public to inform conservation and other landuse decisions. This dataset contains grazing range monitoring data for reindeer on the Seward Peninsula from 2000 to 2010. Data were based on visual ocular estimation with guidelines developed by NRCS and BLM. Lichen utilization is divided into 6 classes that relate to level of disturbance (0= none to 6 = severely heavy) following protocols outlined in Swanson and Knapman (2001). This dataset presents the current potential distribution of grazing allotments within the context of current and near-term terrestrial intactness and long-term potential for energy development and potential for climate change (4KM reporting units). Current terrestrial intactness is based on current measures of landscape development, fire regime and vegetation impacts, and fragmentation. Near-term intactness includes estimates of urban growth and expansion of invasive vegetation. This data set contains habitat potential based on the percentage of cropland for the Greater Sage-Grouse in the Middle Rockies Ecoregion. This data set contains reclassified GAP landcover types. Cropland was extracted and a moving window analysis was run to determine the percentage of cropland. Moving window for analysis was 8.5 km radius, approximately the size of Breeding Bird Density 75% circles. Output was extracted to combination of Breeding Bird Density 75% circles and Schroeder Distribution model. Values were then reclassified to categorical values based on key ecological attributes table.
Dataset for BLM Wild Horse and Burro Herd Areas & Herd Management Areas. Herd Areas were designated in 1971 as places where wild horses and/or burros were found during the initial flights in 1971. Federal lands identified in 1971 but not managed for wild horses and burros are called Herd Areas. As additional surveys were done and data gathered, it was determined that some of these lands and animals were actually on private lands and/or were private animals. Areas with private animals that were 'claimed' during the claiming period were not carried forward as Herd Areas. This simple assessment raster is used to answer management questions (MQs) about where change agents (CAs) overlap with BLM grazing allotments (GAs) in the Central Great Basin and Range Ecoregion. This is a basic footprint assessment of anthropogenic features (urban development, roads, etc) represented in the near-future (circa 2025)development scenario intersect with the areas of public land that are leased to private entities for grazing by livestock.
