The BLM's Top Recreation Opportunities Mapping Series is designed to provide users with recreational information by highlighting some of the highest quality BLM managed recreational opportunities across 246 million acres of public land. Using crowd-sourced data from partner organizations such as Access Fund and Mountain Project, the BLM is able to provide geospatial data and promote greater awareness of public lands. Users can now find the information needed to plan an exciting climbing trip, day hikes, and camping experience through the links on this site.

This dataset provides an estimate of potential water-based recreation areas. No systematically-collected existing information was available regarding water-based recreation areas. We selected large (greater than 1 square kilometer) waterbodies from the NHD waterbodies dataset. Not all of these areas may be open to recreation due to restrictions on access; access information is not available. Smaller waterbodies may also be important for recreation, but were not included here due to lack of information.

This feature class Describes the spatial location of recreation sites within or in close proximity to an administrative unit. Recreation sites are stored in three feature classes. The feature class Recreation_Site_pt represents recreation sites so small they are displayed as points, Recreation_Site_pl represents recreation sites large enough to be represented by area features, and Recreation_Site_ln represents recreation sites that are represented by lines. Any type of recreation site may be contained in any of the feature classes but any given recreation site must be contained in only one of the three feature classes. Recreation sites are grouped hierarchically. For example, a campground may be composed of many...

The Vista tool is used to create a Scenario of the development CAs affecting the Madrean Encinal CE and applies user-input Landscape Condition Model (LCM) scores to generate an LCM for the project area. The LCM consists of Site Impact scores and impact Distances for each CA category. Site Impact scores are a value between 0 and 1 representing the impact of the CA on the relevant CEs. A score close to 1 indicates negligible or no impact from that CA. A score close to 0 indicates the highest possible impact, e.g. an interstate highway that makes the area in which it occurs completely unsuitable for the CE. Distances are set in meters and extend the impact of the CA from the footprint out for the specified distance,...

This feature class consists of the trail routes on the Tonto National Forest. It is part of the USFS Southwestern Region Core Data Project. This project is designed to generate and maintain 15 vertically integrated resource data layers which are standardized across the Southwestern Region. A route feature stores the spatial locations (geography) of the trail. These feature classes have an (M) value or measure on their vertices. A route system depicts all trails within or in close proximity to an administrative unit. A trail is a linear feature constructed for the purpose of allowing the free movement of people, stock, or Off Highway Vehicles (OHV). Route measurements and route directions must correspond to those...

This dataset contains values on the potential number of visitors via Off-Highway Vehicle (in year ~2008) who are "rock hounders" -- i.e. visiting/collecting around mines and such. This assumes a "push" factor of the number of recreationists is equal to 20.9% of population in the CBR/MBR region, which is the average participation rate of off-road recreation usage of both metro and non-metro residents of AZ, CA, NV, and UT from the National survey on recreation and the environment. Cordell et al. 2008. Visitation is assume to decline in half with each 1 hour of travel time.

This dataset contains values on the potential number of visitors via Off-Highway Vehicle enthusiasts (in year ~2030). These data depict the National Hydrography Dataset Plus Version 2.1 (NHDPlusV2.1) flowline representation of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System throughout the conterminous United States as of 2018. U.S. Forest Service geospatial data on National Wild and Scenic River segments (USFS WSR Segment) from 3/1/2016 were joined to the NHDPlusV2.1 to create the Wild and Scenic Rivers 2018 Linked to the NHDPlusV2.1 (wsr_nhdpv2.1) data. To ensure these data correctly represented the NHDPlusV2.1 flowline delineation of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, each wsr_nhdpv2.1 river segment was examined against the USFS WSR Segment data to check for duplication and/or omission of Wild and Scenic River segments. Spatial...

Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides soil data and information produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It is operated by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world. NRCS has soil maps and data available online for more than 95 percent of the nation’s counties and anticipates having 100 percent in the near future. The site is updated and maintained online as the single authoritative source of soil survey information. Soil surveys can be used for general farm, local, and wider area planning. Onsite investigation is needed in some cases, such as soil quality assessments and certain conservation and engineering applications....
