Recreational birding is a popular activity in the United States. To assess the spatial distribution of recreational birding in the southeast, we combined two data sources: eBird (Sullivan et al. 2009) and the National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-associated Recreation (NSFHWAR; US Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Department of Commerce 2011). We used spatial birding data from eBird to distribute the state-level NSFHWAR birding data by county and land protection status. This section of the data release includes core images in the format of photos (JPG) that have been compressed into a zipped file (2018LakePowellCoring_CorePhotos.zip). It is Part 4 (of four) in this data release and contains images of the cleaned archival half from split cores as they appeared immediately after splitting (late March and early April 2019). Each photo includes a ruler (in centimeters) and X-Rite ColorChecker Classic color correction card that may be used for corrections. These data were compiled to predict economic impacts to angling in Glen Canyon and whitewater rafting in Grand Canyon. The objective of our study was to estimate recreation impacts, or changes in consumer surplus, under different future Interim Guidelines sEIS and LTEMP sEIS alternatives. These data include monthly impacts in nominal 2022 dollars. These data were created for operations at Glen Canyon Dam for October 2023 through November 2027. These data were created by the U.S. Geological Survey, Southwest Biological Science Center, Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center using mathematical modeling methods.
The Pacific Southwest Region has geospatial datasets available for download from this website. These datasets are zipped personal or file geodatabases* created using ESRI ArcGis 10.0 software. Additional descriptive information as well as data steward contact information, for each geodatabase, can be found under the metadata link. This is a vector line coverage file showing the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail in the Lander and Rawlins Field Offices. The coordinates for this dataset were collected using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Volunteers, using a Trimble ProXL receiver, mapped the trail in the summer of 2001 by walking and driving the trail segments. As this is a "new" trail, some segments did not exist as a feature on the ground, so the volunteers marked the trail with carsonite signs and mapped these segments also.
