This layer represents areas that have been designated by the states of California and Nevada and the Arizona BLM as priority zones for development for renewable energy int the Mojave Basin and Range Ecoregion. These layers were assembled from three sources: Nevada Renewable Energy and Proposed Interconnections Map. Gov. Jim Gibbons Nevada Renewable Energy and Transmission Access Advisory Committee, Phase II Report. June 26, 2009; California Renewable Energy Transmission Initiative (RETI). Phase 2B Maps (CREZ and Transmission Line Sebments Revised to Reflect Phase 2B). April 8, 2010; AZ REDA Alternative 1 (Maximum REDA, Areas identified during the RDEP alternatives development process). Arizona BLM State Office....

This data set consists of data collected during 2005-2007, 2010, and 2015 at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge in Iowa, USA that were used in the analysis in support of the article titled "Toward improving pollinator habitat: Reconstructing prairies with high forb diversity," which has been submitted to Natural Areas Journal. We compared pollinator habitat, in terms of planted forb richness, cover, and phenology, cover of planted grasses, and persistence of exotic species 10-years post-planting of reconstructions with 58 species (extra-high), 34 species (high), 20 species (medium) and 10 species (low) planted at the same time using the same fields, methods, and overall seeding rate. Twelve replicates of three...

This dataset is part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Restoration Assessment (GLCWRA) initiative. The degree flowlines dataset was created to indicate how many culverts each flowline passes through within the Lake Ontario Restoration Assessment (LORA) study area. The more road crossings on a flowline the more disconnected that area is from the lake and the less suitable it will be for restoration. The GLCWRA initiative identifies coastal wetland areas that have the greatest habitat restoration potential. The data model uses seven parameters to identify and rank wetland restoration areas, resulting in a composite index raster that can be used by ecological managers and planners to...

The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, developed a model for used with MODFLOW-2005 and MODPATH5 to evaluate groundwater flow and advective transport under pre- and post-remediation conditions in the crystalline-rock aquifer in the vicinity of the Savage Municipal Water-Supply Well Superfund site Milford, New Hampshire. In addition, a previously developed model (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20045176 and https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr20121079) was used with MOC3D to evaluate the solute-transport of tetrachloroethylene (PCE). In 2010 PCE, a chlorinated volatile organic compound, was detected in groundwater from...

The dataset supports a larger study that examined the impacts of three tackifiers (guar, psyllium, and polyacrylamide) on growth of two dryland mosses (Bryum argenteum and Syntrichia ruralis). Moss fragments were grown in petri dishes and subjected to individual tackifiers in one of three possible concentrations (0.5x, 1x, or 2x) of the respective manufacturer's recommended application rate. Distilled water was used as a control treatment, giving a total of ten treatments (nine tackifier-concentration combinations and a water control). Bryum fragments were watered four times daily for six weeks and Syntrichia fragments were watered twice daily for five weeks, after which the experiments were concluded. Shoot length,...

This dataset is part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Restoration Assessment (GLCWRA) initiative. This data represents the location of dikes within the Lake Ontario Restoration Assessment (LORA) study area. The GLCWRA initiative identifies coastal wetland areas that have the greatest habitat restoration potential. The data model uses seven parameters to identify and rank wetland restoration areas, resulting in a composite index raster that can be used by ecological managers and planners to assist with the selection of wetland restoration sites. The parameters are Parameter 0: Mask, Parameter 1: Hydroperiod, Parameter 2: Wetland Soils, Parameter 3: Flowlines, Parameter 4: Conservation...

This section of the data release includes core images in the format of photos (JPG) that have been compressed into a zipped file (2018LakePowellCoring_CorePhotos.zip). It is Part 4 (of four) in this data release and contains images of the cleaned archival half from split cores as they appeared immediately after splitting (late March and early April 2019). Each photo includes a ruler (in centimeters) and X-Rite ColorChecker Classic color correction card that may be used for corrections. Drillhole information, such as location and total recovery, are outlined in “Part 1 – Drillhole information from the 2018 coring project in Lake Powell, Utah” (2018LakePowellCoring_DrillholeInfo.csv) of this data release. Each drillhole...

Data includes functional group cover of exotic annual grasses and deep rooted perennial grasses within the first five years after the 2015 Soda wildfire across different post-fire restoration treatments. Additional landscape and restoration treatment covariates hypothesized to influence post-fire invasive annual grass and perennial grass cover are included.

This dataset is part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Restoration Assessment (GLCWRA) initiative. These data represent the flowline network in the Upper Peninsula Restoration Assessment (UPRA). It is attributed with the number of disconnections (e.g., road crossings) between the reach and Lake Ontario. The more road crossings on a flowline the more disconnected that area is from the lake and the less suitable it will be for restoration. These data help identify the condition of hydrologic separation between potential restoration areas and Lake Ontario. Low numbers represent fewer disconnections, such as culverts, between the reach and the water body requiring no flow network modification...
These data were compiled as a part of a landscape conservation design effort for the sagebrush biome, and are the result of applying a spatially explicit model that assessed geographic patterns in sagebrush ecological integrity and used these results to identify Core Sagebrush Areas (CSAs), Growth Opportunity Areas (GOAs), and Other Rangeland Areas (ORAs). Our overall objective in this study was to characterize geographic patterns in ecological integrity of sagebrush ecosystems. These data represent the estimated integrity of sagebrush ecosystems, estimated from a spatial model that assigns high integrity is areas with abundant big sagebrush and perennial grass/forb cover and with minimal annual grass/forb cover,...
