This digital map database provides an areally continuous representation of the Quaternary surficial deposits of the San Francisco Bay region merged from the database files from Knudsen and others (2000) and Witter and others (2006). The more detailed mapping by Witter and others (2006) of the inner part of the region (compiled at a scale of 1:24,000), is given precedence over the less detailed mapping by Knudsen and others (2000) of the outer part of the area (compiled at a scale of 1:100,000). This publication releases swath bathymetry and backscatter datasets derived from multibeam bathymetric data acquired by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on the R/V Marcus G. Langseth legs MGL1108 (transit) and MGL1109 in the Gulf of Alaska, and MGL1111 in the Bering Sea. Leg MGL1108 data were combined with leg MGL1109 data during processing. These data were acquired with a Kongsberg Simrad EM-122 multibeam echosounder and Seafloor Information System (SIS) acquisition software. A fundamental question in seismic hazard analysis is whether <30º-dipping low-angle normal faults (LANFs) slip seismogenically. In comparison to more steeply dipping (45-60º) normal faults, LANFs have the potential to produce stronger shaking because of their increased possible rupture area in the seismogenic crust. While LANFs have been documented globally, examples of seismogenically active LANFs are limited. The western margin of the Panamint Range in eastern California is defined by an archetypal LANF that dips west beneath Panamint Valley. The Global Vs30 Server allows a user to select from a map or input a rectangular region of interest. It then provides (optionally) a Vs30 grid in ASCII or GMT grid format, and a JPEG Vs30 map. Wald et al. (2004) first, and Wald and Allen (BSSA, 2007, in press), more fully, describe a methodology for deriving maps of seismic site conditions using topographic slope as a proxy. Vs30 measurements (the average shear-velocity down to 30 m) are correlated against topographic slope to develop two sets of coefficients for deriving Vs30: one for active tectonic regions that possess dynamic topographic relief, and one for stable continental regions where changes in topography are more subdued.

This dataset contains a provisional release of field observations at sites of fault rupture and ground deformation features where quantitative displacement measurements were obtained. This release does not include associated photographs and some observations where there are outstanding questions about the measurements received; some duplicate observations may exist in this dataset. Photos and resolved measurement data are anticipated for a future release. The lateral blast, debris avalanche, and lahars of the May 18th, 1980, eruption of Mount St. Helens, Washington, dramatically altered the surrounding landscape. Lava domes were extruded during the subsequent eruptive periods of 1980-1986 and 2004-2008. During 2017, U.S. Forest Service contracted the acquisitions of airborne lidar surveys of Mount St. Helens and upper North Fork Toutle River basin, part of a larger 2017-2018 survey of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The significant rise in seismicity rates in Oklahoma and Kansas (OK–KS) in the last decade has led to an increased interest in studying induced earthquakes. Although additional instruments have been deployed in the region, there are still relatively few recordings at the distances (<20 km) and magnitudes (M4+) most relevant to earthquake hazard. In contrast, the USGS Did You Feel It? (DYFI) system has collected more than 200,000 observations during this period with 22,000+ observations at distances less than 20 km. Despite its subdued expression and isolated location within the Great Plains of southeastern Colorado, the 80-km-long Cheraw fault may be one of the most active faults in North America east of the Southern Rocky Mountains. We present geomorphic analyses, geochronology, and paleoseismic trenching data to 1) document the rupture history of the ~45-km-long southwestern section of the Cheraw fault over the past ~19 ka, and 2) evaluate slip-rate changes for the entire fault over the past ~200 ka. This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution horizontal magnetic gradient and radiometric survey over an area of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and western Kentucky. The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Missouri Geological Survey as part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Mapping Resource Initiative (Earth MRI) effort (Day, 2019). In May of 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey responded to the M6.5 Monte Cristo Range Earthquake, occurring near Tonopah, Nevada: https://www.usgs.gov/news/featured-story/m65-monte-cristo-range-earthquake. 60 DTCC SmartSolo 3-component nodal seismograph systems ("nodes") were deployed in the area and continuously recorded seismic data for about a month. Nodes were deployed in various arrays including a square grid, circular grid, linear array, and near 2 permanent strong-motion instruments. This report provides the metadata needed to analyze the seismic data.

This Data Release consists of broadband ground motion simulations for 12 California region earthquakes. The ground motion simulations were done as part of a validation study that is described in more detail in Graves (2022). These simulations were computed using a hybrid simulation methodology (hereafter referred to as GP). The GP approach is a hybrid in that separate responses are computed for the low- and high-frequency components, which are then summed together to produce the full broadband response. Between October 12, 2019 and December 13, 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey deployed 30 nodal seismometers in Humboldt county CA for the purpose of recording seismicity in the subducting Gorda plate. 20 instruments were deployed at the McBride ranch, around NCSN station KCT, and 10 were deployed at the Bureau of Land Management’s Lost Coast Headlands property. The nodes were replaced in mid-November after one month of recording due to battery life.

This dataset contains the supplemental information for the article "Oklahoma experiences largest earthquake during ongoing regional wastewater injection hazard mitigation efforts" published in Geophysical Research Letters (Yeck and others, 2017). Included is a table of relocated earthquake hypocenters and the velocity model used in the event relocations. These locations form the basis of the analysis presented in the article.
