Morris Lake, also known as Newton Reservoir, has been the source of drinking water for the Town of Newton, New Jersey, since the early 1900s. Although Morris Lake has been used as a source of drinking water for many years, its capacity was previously unknown. In April 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection conducted a bathymetric survey of Morris Lake using a multibeam echosounder to map the reservoir. The points measured with the multibeam echosounder were combined with lidar data above the water surface and processed to create a 3.3-foot (1 meter) raster grid of the bathymetric surface, bathymetric contours at 2-foot intervals of depth and elevation, and an elevation-area-capacity...

The Kalamazoo River Area of Concern (AOC) has multiple dam removals in various stages of completion. Following dam removal, river restoration activities will occur in impacted reaches. Hydrogeomorphic data from relatively undisturbed and hydraulically stable river reaches are commonly used to inform the design parameters of river restoration projects. Reference reaches should have similar prevailing boundary conditions as target restoration reaches, including water and sediment regime, valley and channel slope, valley confinement, bank heights, and riparian vegetation. This dataset characterizes the geomorphology of one reference reach, an approximately 500m reach upstream of Plainwell, MI. The reach has a drainage...

This dataset is a point shapefile containing water-depth points collected during a sedimentation survey of Lago Carite, Puerto Rico. The contours were generated from bathymetric data collected during a sedimentation survey conducted during the period January 23 - January 30, 2018 by the Puerto Rico office of the Caribbean-Florida Water Science Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The goals of the survey were to determine reservoir infill sedimentation rates, generate a bathymetric map of the reservoir, and create a stage-volume relation. Field techniques used during the survey were similar to those outlined by Soler-López and Carrasquillo-Nieves, (2001) and Wilson and Richards (2006). A total of 137 planned...
