This publication releases single-beam bathymetry and backscatter datasets acquired by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) during surveys performed on Floras Lake, Oregon, in June 2018. Bathymetry and backscatter data were collected using two personal watercraft (PWCs) equipped with single-beam sonar systems, sidescan sonar systems, and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. Bathymetry data are provided as point data in a comma-separated text file and are projected in cartesian coordinates using the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM), Zone 10 North, meters coordinate system, with elevations relative to the NAVD88 vertical datum. Acoustic-backscatter data are provided as a GeoTIFF file also projected...

This 25-m-resolution surface presents bathymetric change of San Pablo Bay, California, from 1983 to 2015. This surface compares a 1-m-resolution digital elevation model (DEM) of the northern portion of San Francisco Bay (Fregoso and others, 2020), comprised of bathymetry data in the San Pablo Bay region from the time period referred to as the 2010s because the majority of the surveys were in that decade, to a 25-m-resolution bathymetric DEM of San Pablo Bay comprised of historic surveys from 1983 to 1986 (referred to as the 1980s because the majority of the surveys were in that decade). The creation of this change surface involved the resampling of the 1-m-resolution 2010s DEM to match the 25-m-resolution of the...
From 2013 to 2015, bathymetric surveys of New York City’s six West of Hudson reservoirs (Ashokan, Cannonsville, Neversink, Pepacton, Rondout, and Schoharie) were performed to provide updated capacity tables and bathymetric maps. Depths were surveyed with a single-beam echo sounder and real-time kinematic global positioning system (RTK-GPS) along planned transects at predetermined intervals for each reservoir. A separate set of echo sounder data was collected along transects at oblique angles to the main transects for accuracy assessment. Field survey data was combined with water-surface elevations in a geographic information system to create three-dimensional surfaces representing reservoir-bed elevations in the...

Bathymetric data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 2019 for approximately 2.2 square kilometers of the Nehalem Bay between the Highway 101 bridge and Nehalem Bay State Park (about 6.5 kilometers) near Wheeler, Oregon. The data were collected using a Trimble R8 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver combined with a Seafloor Systems Hydrolite TM single-beam 200 kilohertz echosounder mounted to a motorized boat. GPS positions received corrections in real time from the Oregon Real-Time GNSS Network. Sound velocity profiles were recorded at 19 different locations evenly spaced throughout the survey area using an AML Oceanographic Base X2 100 meter sound velocity profiler in order to quantify...

Bathymetric, topographic, and grain-size data were collected from May 2013 to October 2016 along a 15-mi reach of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona by the U.S. Geological Survey Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center. The study reach is located from river miles -15 at the base of Glen Canyon Dam to 0 at Lees Ferry. Channel bathymetry was mapped using multibeam bathymetry collected in November 2014 and single beam bathymetry collected in February 2015, August 2015, February 2016, and June 2016. Subaerial topography was mapped using photogrammetry derived from aerial Imagery collected in May 2013 and ground-based total-stations collected in February 2015, October 2015, and October...

This data release presents eelgrass distributions and bathymetry data derived from acoustic surveys of Bellingham Bay, Washington. Survey operations were conducted between February 16 and February 21, 2019 (USGS Field Activity Number 2019-606-FA) by a team of scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center and Washington State Department of Ecology. Eelgrass and bathymetry data were collected from the R/V George Davidson equipped with a single-beam sonar system and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver. The sonar system consisted of a Biosonics DT-X single-beam echosounder and 420 kHz transducer with a 6-degree beam angle. Depths from the echosounder were computed...

This portion of the USGS data release presents bathymetry data collected during surveys performed in the Columbia River littoral cell, Washington and Oregon in 2015 (USGS Field Activity Number 2015-647-FA). Bathymetry data were collected using four personal watercraft (PWCs) equipped with single-beam sonar systems and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. The sonar systems consisted of an Odom Echotrac CV-100 single-beam echosounder and 200 kHz transducer with a 9 degree beam angle. Raw acoustic backscatter returns were digitized by the echosounder with a vertical resolution of 1.25 cm. Depths from the echosounders were computed using sound velocity profiles measured using a YSI CastAway CTD during...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Cook County Bureau of Technology (BOT), prioritized waterbodies (lakes, rivers, and canals) of interest within Cook County to survey in 2022. These surveys describe the bathymetry and basic water-quality conditions observed, and could be used by the BOT to assist with resource management decisions and uses, as well as build an inventory that could be shared with other local governmental agencies. Waterbodies surveyed in 2022 and included in this data release are: Arrowhead Lake, Axehead Lake, Baker's Lake, Belly Deep Slough, Bode Lake North, Bode Lake South, Bull Frog Lake, Busse Lake Main Pool, Busse Lake North Pool, Busse Lake South Pool, Busse Woods...

This portion of the USGS data release presents digital elevation models (DEMs) derived from bathymetric and topographic surveys conducted on the Elwha River delta, Washington, in July 2016 (USGS Field Activity Number 2016-653-FA). Nearshore bathymetry data were collected using two personal watercraft (PWCs) and a kayak equipped with single-beam echosounders and survey-grade global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. Topography data were collected on foot with survey-grade GNSS receivers mounted on backpacks. Positions of the survey platforms were referenced to a GNSS base station placed on a benchmark with known horizontal and vertical coordinates relative to the North American Datum of 1983 (CORS96 realization)...
This dataset contains depths and bottom velocities at discreet sampling locations in the St. Clair-Detroit River System. Measurements were made to complement data on fish egg deposition in the St. Clair-Detroit Rivers from 2005-2016. Depth measurements were made with a boat mounted sonar unit at the beginning of spring and fall sampling season from 2005-2016. Water velocities near the river bed were measured in 2013 and 2015 using a handheld velocity meter attached to a 6.8 kg sounding weight. The sounding weight was lowered off the side of a boat to the river bottom and then lifting the weight slighlty off the bottom to ensure the weight and velocity meter were properly oriented with the current, the mean velocity...
