This dataset contains absolute-gravity measurements made using an A-10 absolute gravity meter (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) in 2019 in Pinal County, Arizona. Measurements were made at a total of 19 different stations used by the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to monitor aquifer-storage changes. Data are presented in tabular and spatial vector (point) form, including relevant parameters used for processing. Data were output by g software (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) version 9.12.04.23. A correction for laser-frequency drift was applied, based on regular calibration of the HeNe laser used in the A-10 against an iodine-stabilized laser.

We characterized seafloor sediment conditions near the mouth of the Elwha River from underwater photographs taken every four hours from September 2011 to December 2013. A digital camera was affixed to a tripod that was deployed in approximately 10 meters of water (Tripod location from September 2011 to April 2013: 48.15333, -123.55931; tripod location from April 2013 to December 2013: 48.15407, -123.55444). Each photograph was qualitatively characterized as one of six categories: (1) base, or no sediment; (2) low sediment; (3) medium sediment; (4) high sediment; (5) turbid; or (6) kelp. For base conditions, no sediment was present on the seafloor. Low sediment conditions were characterized by a light dusting of...

Streamgage levels on the Elwha River were measured from 2011 to 2016. These measurements show the height of the river's water surface, both in meters relative to the stream bed, as well as in meters relative to vertical geographic coordinates. Measurements were collected using a Global Water WL16 battery-operated vented water level logger in a hardened casing. The instrument was installed on October 17, 2011 on the left bank of the Elwha River at a power line crossing above the Elwha Surface Water Intake (at approximately river kilometer 5.6), which is downstream of the (now historical) Elwha Dam site. Data collection ended May 12, 2016. The data were collected as part of a study investigating responses of the Elwha...

Note: this data release has been superseded by version 5.0, available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/F7HT2NNP Ice breakup dates of Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior from 1911 to 2021 were compiled by Lori Evrard (USGS, GLSC, Lake Superior Biological Station, Ashland, WI). Ice breakup date is the day in spring when winter ice cover substantially leaves a water body. Local residents deem "ice breakup" as when the ice moves northeast of a line straight across Chequamegon Bay out from Ellis Avenue (State highway 13). Another way ice breakup was determined has been if you could drive a boat from the outlet of Fish Creek to Houghton Point. The ice may move back and forth over that line but the ice is breaking up, moving...

This volume's release consists of 64642 media files captured by autonomous wildlife monitoring devices under the project, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The attached files listed below include several CSV files that provide information about the data release. The file, "media.csv" provides the metadata about the media, such as filename and date/time of capture. The actual media files are housed within folders under the volume's "child items" as compressed files. A critical CSV file is "dictionary.csv", which describes each CSV file, including field names, data types, descriptions, and the relationship of each field to fields other CSV files. Some of the media files may have been "tagged" or "annotated"...

The data include atmospheric-loading frequency response functions (table 1) and filtered detrended and reconstructed (trends restored) groundwater-levels (tables 2 to 4) computed for selected, parsed time series for three USGS monitoring wells [28A-25-1 (373904118570701); 28A-25-2 (373904118570702); and 14A-25-1 (373927118571701)], and the associated hourly resampled depth-to-water-level and barometric-pressure time-series "pieces" (tables 2 to 4) used to create the parsed series. Digital filters were developed based on the computed water-level response to Earth tides in well 14A-25-1 and barometric pressure in all three wells, and these filters were used to compute the filtered water-level time series in tables...

Water Resources,
Water resources around the world are contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) due to releases from point sources on military installations, fire training centers, and chemical manufacturing sites. Non-point sources have also been identified including wastewater effluent, landfills, and biosolids application. PFAS are a major concern to myriad stakeholders as some are known to bioaccumulate, they have eco-toxicity effects, and they are highly recalcitrant. PFAS are often called “forever chemicals” due to their environmental persistence but many precursor PFAS are transformed in the environment by microbes. Recent work has shown that PFAS can be biologically degraded in laboratory studies, but...

This dataset records results from a bottom-deployed upward-looking Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP, 600 kHz Workhorse Monitor, Teledyne RD Instruments, Poway, California) deployed during the summer of 2019 (late June until early August) near Hammond Bay, Lake Huron (45.5948 degrees north, -84.1542 degrees east). Data were collected in support of nearby Cladophora and benthic algal assessments, as well as to validate hydrodynamic modeling.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, used streamflow measurements at 11 partial-record sites and related them to nearby USGS or Idaho Power Company real-time streamgages (index sites) to provide daily mean streamflow values at ungaged (partial-record) sites within the Wild and Scenic River of the Owyhee Canyonlands Wilderness, Idaho. Daily mean streamflow was estimated by developing a regression relationship between streamflow at each partial-record site and the index site for the period of record of the index site. The regressions are then used to estimate annual and semimonthly 20-, 50-, and 80-percent exceedance probability streamflow statistics at each partial-record...

Extended time-series sensor data were collected between 2012 and 2016 in surface water of a tidal salt-marsh creek on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The objective of this field study was to measure water chemical characteristics and flows, as part of a study to quantify lateral fluxes of dissolved carbon species between the salt marsh and estuary. Data consist of in-situ measurements including: salinity, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, redox potential, fluorescent dissolved organic matter, turbidity and chlorophyll. Surface water flow, water level and water elevation data were also measured. The data provided in this release represent a compiled data set consisting of multiple sensor deployments between 2012 and 2016.

These data were compiled for the creation of a continuous, transboundary land cover map of Bird Conservation Region 33, Sonoran and Mojave Deserts (BCR 33). Objective(s) of our study were to, 1) develop a machine learning (ML) algorithm trained to classify vegetation land cover using remote sensing spectral data and phenology metrics from 2013-2020, over a large subregion of the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts BCR, 2) Calibrate, validate, and refine the final ML-derived vegetation map using a collection of openly sourced remote sensing and ground-based ancillary data, images, and limited fieldwork, and 3) Harmonize a new transboundary classification system by expanding existing land cover mapping resources from the United...

This dataset represents the network-adjusted results of relative- and absolute-gravity surveys. Relative-gravity surveys were carried out using a Zero Length Spring, Inc. Burris relative-gravity meter. The effect of solid Earth tides and ocean loading were removed from the data. Instrument drift was removed by evaluating gravity change during repeated measurements at one or more base stations. Absolute-gravity surveys were carried out using a Micro-g LaCoste, Inc. A-10 absolute-gravity meter. Vertical gradients between the different measuring heights of the absolute- and relative-gravity meters were measured using a relative-gravity meter and tripod, and used to correlate the measurements between the two instruments....

These data represent stem growth from whitebark pine at 27 sites in the Sierra Nevada of California. Values for stem growth were derived from increment cores, processed following standard methods. Samples were also compared against a genomic data collected at the same trees. These data support the following publication: van Mantgem, P.J., Milano, E.R., Dudney, J., Nesmith, J.C.B, Vandergast, A.G., and Zald, H.S.J., 2023.
