Modeling and Projecting the Influence of Climate Change on Texas Surface Waters and their Aquatic Biotic Communities

Water scarcity is a growing concern in Texas, where surface water is derived almost entirely from rainfall. Changes in air temperature and precipitation patterns associated with global climate change are anticipated to regionally affect the quality and quantity of inland surface waters and consequently their suitability as habitat for freshwater life. In addition to directly affecting resident organisms and populations, these changes in physicochemical traits of aquatic habitats may favor the establishment of harmful invasive species. This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne radiometric survey over parts of Montana in the vicinity of the Boulder Batholith. The airborne survey was jointly funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and Kennecott Exploration Company. The survey was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. Delmarva Peninsula Stream Health and Habitat Assessments in Maryland and Delaware (2022)

U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a data collection campaign from the 25th of April to the 10th of June in 2022, using various methods to record geomorphic and habitat indicators throughout 30 streams on the Delmarva Peninsula. Field methods included GNSS surveys, gravelometer-based pebble count readings, visual assessments, and riparian analyses. This metadata record contains all raw observations from the campaign as well as numerous summary metrics to be used in model development. Those "model-ready" data can be found in Delmarva_Model_Deliverable.csv in the parent item, while the two child items containing raw in-channel observations and raw survey data. Delmarva Peninsula Raw Habitat and Riparian Assessment Data (2022)

U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a data collection campaign from the 25th of April to the 10th of June in 2022, using various methods to record geomorphic and habitat indicators throughout 30 streams on the Delmarva Peninsula. Field methods included GNSS surveys, gravelometer-based pebble count readings, visual assessments, and riparian analyses. These data contain all raw field metrics from the in-channel habitat assessment as well as the rapid riparian assessment. Delmarva Peninsula Stream Survey (2022)

U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a stream surveying campaign from the 25th of April to the 10th of June in 2022 at 100m reaches throughout 30 streams on the Delmarva Peninsula. The goal was to collect three cross sections, water surface elevation at the top and bottom of each reach, and thalweg point data at each study location to use the geomorphological surveys alongside habitat information. Together, these two sources of data can be used to create a habitat assessment of Delmarva Peninsula streams. Thalweg determination for three rivers in the Pacific Northwest, USA, 2023

In May 2023, the U.S. Geological Survey provided training for bathymetric data acquisition and processing for the Iraq Ministry of Water Resources. The training included multibeam sonar theory, survey planning, data collection and processing, and dissemination. This data release presents the raw survey data, a digital elevation model (DEM), and a thalweg shapefile for three survey areas in the Pacific Northwest, USA (Mores Creek, Idaho; Columbia River, OR; Willamette River, OR). Bathymetric and Topographic Surveys at Lucky Peak Lake Intake Structures, Boise County, Idaho, 2023

In October 2023, the U.S. Geological Survey Idaho Water Science Center (IDWSC), in cooperation with Lucky Peak Power Plant Project (LPPPP), completed bathymetric and topographic surveys at two dam intake structures using multibeam bathymetry and boat-mounted Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). Dam operators indicated a possibility that sediment aggradation was occurring near the intake structures that allow water to pass through the dam. The bathymetric and topographic data generally include complete coverage near the intake structures and banklines near Lucky Peak Dam.
