This data set represents the extent, approximate location and type of wetlands and deepwater habitats in the United States and its Territories. These data delineate the areal extent of wetlands and surface waters as defined by Cowardin et al. (1979). Certain wetland habitats are excluded from the National mapping program because of the limitations of aerial imagery as the primary data source used to detect wetlands. These habitats include seagrasses or submerged aquatic vegetation that are found in the intertidal and subtidal zones of estuaries and near shore coastal waters. This product contains Bureau of Land Management (BLM) conservation efforts completed from 2009 - 2014 for the benefit of the Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG). The conservation efforts data included in this product are the state polygon data only.
From USFWS service description: "This data service identifies, in general, the areas where final critical habitat exist for species that are endangered or threatened. Special protections and/or restrictions are possible in areas where federal funding, permits, licenses, authorizations or actions occur or are required. Critical habitat are areas considered essential for the conservation of a listed species. These areas provide notice to the public and land managers the importance of these areas to the conservation of the species." The polygon feature class is composed of National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Plus Polygons and where the NHD Plus layer was insufficient, water bodies were digitized from 2010 National Agricultural Inventory Program (NAIP) 10 meter aerial imagery.

The polygon feature class is composed of National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Plus Polygons and where the NHD Plus layer was insufficient, water bodies were digitized from 2010 National Agricultural Inventory Program (NAIP) 1 meter aerial imagery. Areas of open water are known to fluctuate based on rainfall and other factors, and therefore this dataset may not be accurate for other time periods.

The data compiled in this product are from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Conservation Efforts Database (CED). The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) was asked to contribute conservation efforts conducted for the benefit of the Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG) to the USFWS Conservation Efforts Database (CED). All BLM plans and projects conducted for the benefit of the GRSG from 2009 – 2014, as well as those with a planned or in progress implementation status that extended into 2015, were compiled and submitted to the USFWS CED.
