This data set contains the output values for the golden eagle threat assessment in relation to the 6th Level HUC unit. These values were created using the analysis tools in the associated toolbox (MIR_Golden_Eagle_Analysis_175407.tbx). This data layer contains the output values for all of the change agents used in the analysis of the golden eagle.

This data set contains distances between anthropogenic features and grasslands classified into three categories based on metrics from KEA tables in the Northwest Plains Ecoregion. Antrhropogenic fetures include roads, electrical transmission lines, housing density, wind turbine, and oil and gas wells, This data is intended for use at the ecoregional level and was derived from spatial environmental attributes and grasslands locations.

Mineral resource occurrence data covering the world, most thoroughly within the U.S. This database contains the records previously provided in the Mineral Resource Data System (MRDS) of USGS and the Mineral Availability System/Mineral Industry Locator System (MAS/MILS) originated in the U.S. Bureau of Mines, which is now part of USGS. The MRDS is a large and complex relational database developed over several decades by hundreds of researchers and reporters. This product is a digest in which the fields chosen are those most likely to contain valid information. These locations were buffered and converted to a raster to be included in a large mosaic of development layers.

This is the dataset for anticipated oil and gas well development in areas of high oil and gas potential as described in Copeland et al. (2009) Mapping Oil and Gas Development Potential in the US Intermountain West and Estimating Impacts to Species, PLoSOne. (http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0007400) This dataset corresponds with results shown in Figure 2 of the publication. Please see paper in PLoSOne for more detailed methods. The dataset should be cited as: Copeland, H., K. Doherty, D. Naugle, A. Pocewicz, J. Kiesecker (2010) Mapping Oil and Gas Development Potential in the US Intermountain West and Estimating Impacts to Species. The projection of this dataset is: US NAD83 Lambert...

Some of the SNK rasters intentionally do not align or have the same extent. These rasters were not snapped to a common raster per the authors' discretion. Please review selected rasters prior to use. These varying alignments are a result of the use of differing source data sets and all products derived from them. We recommend that users snap or align rasters as best suits their own projects. - Wind power categorized by resource potential using standard wind power classes. Although it is believed to represent an accurate overall picture of the wind energy resource, estimates at any location should be confirmed by measurement.

The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is the Federal standard for geographic nomenclature. The U.S. Geological Survey developed the GNIS for the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, a Federal inter-agency body chartered by public law to maintain uniform feature name usage throughout the Government and to promulgate standard names to the public. The GNIS is the official repository of domestic geographic names data; the official vehicle for geographic names use by all departments of the Federal Government; and the source for applying geographic names to Federal electronic and printed products of all types. See http://geonames.usgs.gov for additional information.

This data release presents structure-from-motion (SFM) products derived from aerial imagery surveys with precise Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) navigation data flown in a piloted fixed wing aircraft taken along the North Carolina coast in response to Hurricane Florence (available here https://coastal.er.usgs.gov/data-release/doi-P91KB9SF/). USGS researchers use the elevation models and orthorectified imagery to assess future coastal vulnerability, nesting habitats for wildlife, and provide data for hurricane impact models. The products span the coast over both highly developed towns and natural areas, including federal lands. These products represent the coast after Hurricane Florence and cover the Cape...

The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Grand River Dam Authority completed a high-resolution multibeam bathymetric survey to compute a new capacity and surface-area table. The capacity and surface-area tables describe the relation between the elevation of the water surface and the volume of water that can be impounded at each given water-surface elevation. The capacity and surface area of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees were computed from a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) surface created in Global Mapper Version 21.0.1. The TIN surface was created from three datasets: (1) a multibeam bathymetric survey of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees in 2019 (Hunter and others 2020), (2) a 2017 USGS bathymetric survey...
Burnsville Cove in Bath and Highland Counties (Virginia, USA) is a karst region in the Valley and Ridge Province of the Appalachian Mountains. The region contains many caves in Silurian to Devonian limestone, and is well suited for examining geologic controls on cave location and cave passage morphology. In Burnsville Cove, many caves are located preferentially near the axes of synclines and anticlines. For example, Butler Cave is an elongate cave where the trunk channel follows the axis of Sinking Creek syncline and most of the side passages follow joints at right angles to the syncline axis. In contrast, the Water Sinks Subway Cave, Owl Cave, and Helictite Cave have abundant maze patterns, and are located near...
