Vegetation at HUTR was mapped and classified by a combination of plot data, field visits and photo interpretation. Aerial photographs from September 14th, 2003 were used during the photo interpretation process. Field data used to aid in the assignment of map labels was collected in August of 2006. The protocols and standards used are those for small parks and are described in the NPS/BRD program documents (National Mapping Program Field Methods for Vegetation Mapping (1994a) for small parks (section 5.1). BOR was contracted by the Southern Colorado Plateau Network in 2005 to map approximately 1,639 acres (~ 663 ha) of Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site and environs.Vegetation mapping for HUTR encompassed...

To produce the digital map, a combination of 1:12,000-scale aerial infrared photographs acquired in October 2005, GPS referenced ground data and two reconnaissance field trips were used to interpret the complex patterns of vegetation and land-use. Ultimately, 19 map units were defined to describe all the land cover within the project boundary. This includes 13 that describe the vegetation. All of the interpreted and remotely sensed data were converted to Geographic Information System (GIS) databases using ArcGIS software. Draft maps were printed, field tested, reviewed and revised. During the summer of 2008 275 accuracy assessment (AA) data points were collected and used to determine the map's accuracy. After final...

Vegetation at CHCU was mapped and classified by a combination of existing plot data and data collected for the purposes of this project, several field visits and photo interpretation. The protocols and standards used are those for medium sized parks and are described in the NPS/CSS program documents (TNC and ESRI 1994a) (section 5.1). BOR was contracted by the Southern Colorado Plateau Network in 2005 to map approximately 18,800 ha (~46,500 acres) of Chaco Culture National Historical Park and environs. The vegetation map is a 1:24000 scale product. To effectively classify and map the wide range of vegetation at CHCU required a multi-year approach and consisted of several linked phases: (1) vegetation classification...

Vegetation at NAVA was mapped and classified by a combination of field plot data collected in 2005 and photo interpretation from 1:12,000 scale color aerial photograghs acquired in June of 2004. The protocols and standards used are those for small parks and are described in the NPS/BRD program documents (National Mapping Program Field Methods for Vegetation Mapping (1994a) for small parks (section 5.1). BOR was contracted by the Southern Colorado Plateau Network in 2005 to map approximately 2,500 acres (~ 1000 ha) of Navajo National Monument and environs.Vegetation mapping for NAVA encompassed both the executive boundary of NAVA, and a 0.5 km environ buffer. Field reconnaissance focused most on the area within the...

Vegetation at ELMO was mapped and classified by a combination of existing plot data (Cully 2002), a field visit (August 2005) and photo interpretation of aerial photos from September of 2004. The protocols and standards used are those for small parks and are described in the NPS/BRD program documents (National Mapping Program Field Methods for Vegetation Mapping (1994a) for small parks (section 5.1). BOR was contracted by the Southern Colorado Plateau Network in 2005 to map approximately 2,400 acres (~ 1000 ha) of El Morro National Monument and environs. The vegetation map is a 1:24000 scale product.Vegetation mapping for ELMO encompassed both the executive boundary of ELMO and a 0.5 km environ buffer. Field reconnaissance...
