To produce the digital map, a combination of 1:12,000-scale aerial infrared photographs acquired in October 2005, GPS referenced ground data and two reconnaissance field trips were used to interpret the complex patterns of vegetation and land-use. Ultimately, 19 map units were defined to describe all the land cover within the project boundary. This includes 13 that describe the vegetation. All of the interpreted and remotely sensed data were converted to Geographic Information System (GIS) databases using ArcGIS software. Draft maps were printed, field tested, reviewed and revised. Little River Canyon NPRES Vegetation Map Data
This data represents a vegetation map for Gauley River National Recreation Area. It contains nonoverlapping polygons which represent vegetation classes, aquatic features, and cultural features. Vegetation types were classified based on statistical analysis of plot data collected on the ground from 1995 through 2009. Polygons were delineated based on interpretation of digital and hard copy aerial photography flown in 2003. This data set was created by clipping the GARIvegetation feature class by the boundary of Gauley River National Recreation Area. Multipart polygons created by the clip operation were converted to single part polygons. Hectares and acres were calculated for each polygon using XTools.

Homestead National Monument (HOME) encompasses 184 acres in Gage County, west of Beatrice, Nebraska. This unique site hosts the oldest prairie restoration in the National Park system, and the second-oldest tallgrass prairie restoration known. This park unit also has a small remnant of native tallgrass prairie and remnants of bur-oak forest. The park also provides significant cultural resources, with historic buildings and a Heritage Center devoted to the history of homesteading. This geodatabase is an association-level map of the vegetation of the Morristown National Historical Park created using the US National Vegetation Classification (NVC). Fourteen NVC associations and four land use categories were mapped. Field work was conducted in 2003 and 2004 during which 22 vegetation plots were recorded on standardized field forms. Plot data were entered into the NPS PLOTS 2.0 database (NatureServe 2003), then exported to a spreadsheet. The data were analyzed using PC-ORD version 4.0 Multivariate Analysis package (McCune and Mefford 1999), and the resulting vegetation types were crosswalked to the NVC.
