Using high-resolution sonar technologies with geographic information systems (GIS) and object based image analysis, benthic characteristics of the Illinois River have been interpreted to support invasive carp research, monitoring and control. The study plan consisted of data collection and analysis of the Brandon, Dresden, Starved Rock, Marseilles, Peoria, La Grange and Alton reaches of the Illinois River. Reaches with larger aquatic areas (Peoria, La Grange and Alton), had areas prioritized for data collection and analysis.
This ArcGIS Add-In tool assigns telemetry receivers a “river address,” with the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) flowlines providing the river name (analogous to a street name in a postal address) and a distance along flowline (the house number in a postal address). Using this information, it is possible to sequence receivers along a flowline. Once sequenced, receiver data can then be analyzed to identify where receivers are being bypassed by receiver tags, or if there are instances of improbable tag movement between receivers.

Migratory species often provide ecosystem service benefits to people in one country while receiving habitat support in other countries. The multinational cooperation necessary to ensure continued provisioning of these benefits by migrational processes may be informed by understanding the benefits that people in different countries derive from migratory wildlife. Daily streamflow was simulated at 1,331 validation streamgages across the continental United States using both the drainage area ratio (DAR) method and nonlinear spatial interpolation using flow duration curves (QPPQ). Each simulation method was implemented using two index gage selection methods: nearest neighbor (NN) and map correlation (MC), resulting in a total of 4 daily streamflow simulations at each validation streamgage (NNDAR, MCDAR, NNQPPQ, MCQPPQ). Streamflow was simulated for the period of record matching the observed streamflows between September 1, 1980 through September 30, 2013. This data release provides documentation on the input and output files used in the tomographic imaging done in this study. This includes the station, location and arrivaltime input files to the tomography and the output relocations and resulting P- and S-wave images. The output results are relocated seismicity, tomographic velocity models (P and S-wave). We included a file containing coordinate information (latitude, longitude, elevation) of all California seismic stations, some of which are used in this study. Note that we did not use the S-wave imaging results in the study of Furlong et al. (2024)--see reference below. This dataset captures the Zebra Mussel dose-response to four independent toxicants and each binary mixture of those toxicants. Toxicants included EarthTec QZ, Clam-Trol CT-2 (syn. Spectrus CT1300), niclosamide, and potassium chloride. Each dose of toxicant was verified with either ICP-OES or UHPLC, depending on analyte, and comparison to a standard curve. Mortality was tabulated for each observation.

Using publicly available data for Seneca and Wayne counties, New York, a series of geospatial overlays were created at 1:24,000 scale to examine the bedrock geology, groundwater table, soils, and surficial geology. Bedrock and surficial geology were refined using extant bedrock maps, well and borehole data from water- and gas-wells, soil data, and lidar data. Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Digitized field boundaries were used to locate crops for in situ verification once in 2022; crop verification occurred on June 2nd. To support research on dispersion in river channels, a tracer dye experiment was performed on the Kootenai River in northern Idaho, September 25-27, 2017. This data release provides access to hyperspectral image acquired during the experiment and the supporting field-based measurements of reflectance and dye concentration are available through related data releases. The hyperspectral image data were acquired by Quantum Spatial Inc. (QSI) using the ITRES CASI 1500H imaging system deployed from a Cessna Caravan manned aircraft from a flying height of 1000 m above ground level. The Everglades Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) is a series of connected, modular Bayesian networks that predict the response of several Everglades indicators of ecosystem health to changes in hydrology, salinity, and the landscape. This release provides the code to update the vegetation module of EVA, validate the updated module, and provides the process and outputs of a sensitivity analysis of the module. The timing of biological events in plants and animals, such as migration and reproduction, is shifting due to climate change. Anadromous fishes are particularly susceptible to these shifts, as they are subject to strong seasonal cycles when transitioning between marine and freshwater habitats to spawn. The variation of Love/Rayleigh phase and group velocity was determined for the continental U. S. and adjacent Canada. By processing ambient noise from the broadband channels of the Transportable Array (TA) of USArray and several PASSCAL experiments and using some earthquake recordings, the effort was focused toward determining dispersion down to periods as short as 2s. The relatively short distances between TA stations permitted the use of a 25 km x 25 km grid for the four independent tomographic inversions (Love/Rayleigh and Phase/group velocity). Wetlands are frequently used in the U.S. for treating nitrate in agricultural runoff. However, numerous other biologically active contaminants, such as antibiotics and nitrification inhibitors, regularly co-occur with nitrate and many can affect the efficiency of nitrate removal. The National Park Service (NPS) partnered with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to collect hydroacoustic data of the Mississippi River for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. The combined datasets will provide key components to characterizing benthic habitat. These information needs were highly desired by the NPS to more accurately assess environmental factors that influence native mussel distribution.
