A bathymetric survey was conducted upstream and downstream of the confluence of the Ichilo and Sajta Rivers near Puerto Villarroel, Bolivia. The surveyed reach extends approximately 12 kilometers upstream of the confluence along the Ichilo River, approximately 2 kilometers upstream of the confluence along the Sajta River, and 1.5 kilometers downstream of the confluence. The bathymetric data include survey point data provided as a text file of horizontal coordinates in Universal Transverse Mercator Zone 20 South, in meters. The river bed elevation is expressed as height above the WGS-84 ellipsoid, in meters. USGS personnel collected bathymetric data from May 23, 2019, through May 24, 2019 using an interferometric...

This data release consists of orthophotographs of the Snow River in Alaska acquired on September 1, 2018. The orthophotographs were produced from images obtained using a Hasselblad A6D-100C 100 megapixel digital mapping camera deployed within a pod mounted on the landing gear of a Robinson R44 helicopter. Images were acquired as the helicopter transited a series of flight lines designed to provide complete coverage, with ample overlap, of the study area along the Snow River. Also within the pod was an ATLANS GPS/Inertial Motion Unit (IMU) that recorded the position and orientation of the platform during the flight. This information was used to geo-reference the images by performing aerial triangulation and bundle...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Resources Mission Area (WMA) is working to address a need to understand where the Nation is experiencing water shortages or surpluses relative to the demand for water need by delivering routine assessments of water supply and demand and an understanding of the natural and human factors affecting the balance between supply and demand. A key part of these national assessments is identifying long-term trends in water availability, including groundwater and surface water quantity, quality, and use. This data release contains Mann-Kendall monotonic trend analyses for 18 observed annual and monthly streamflow metrics at 6,347 U.S. Geological Survey streamgages located in the conterminous...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Digital hydrogeologic surface of the Midway Confining Unit in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi. The hydrogeologic unit dataset contains 414 rows and 394 columns representing 1-mile grid spacing. In general, limitations of data interpolation included areas of sparse geophysical log control points, log datums not clearly defined for some logs, unknown exact extent of each hydrogeologic unit in subcrop, interpolation...

Digital hydrogeologic surface of the Lower Claiborne Confining Unit in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi. The data release documents the development of a hybrid (statistical-mechanistic) SPARROW (SPAtially Referenced Regression On Watershed attributes) model of long-term mean annual total nitrogen applied to streams and rivers of the Grande River Basin, Brazil. The model coupled observed long-term average total nitrogen loads at monitoring locations with additional explanatory variables (e.g., landscape sources, wastewater treatment plant inputs, and in-stream nitrogen losses) to estimate nitrogen loading to all reaches in the modeled area. The model was applied to estimate the effects of hypothetical changes in land use and discharge from wastewater treatment on in-stream total nitrogen loading, as described in the...

A point coverage was created from the 1980 Master Area Reference File (MARF) of the U.S. Census Bureay. Each point represents the center of a census tract, though some tracts were split. A 1980 population is associated with each point. Populations for 1970, 1982, 1984, and 1985 were inferred from county population data.

Polygons delineate generalized areas in and around Great Basin National Park where surface-water resources likely or potentially are susceptible to groundwater withdrawals in adjacent valleys.

This data set represents soil surface slope, in percent times 1000, in the conterminous United States. The data set was used as an input data layer for a national model to predict nitrate concentration in shallow ground water. Nolan and Hitt (2006) developed two national models to predict contamination of ground water by nonpoint sources of nitrate. The nonlinear approach to national-scale Ground-WAter Vulnerability Assessment (GWAVA)...

Estuarine ecosystems are controlled by a variety of processes that operate at multiple spatial and temporal scales. Understanding the hierarchical nature of these processes will aid in prioritization of restoration efforts. This hierarchical Columbia River Estuary Ecosystem Classification (henceforth "Classification") of the Columbia River estuary is a spatial database of the tidally-influenced reaches of the lower Columbia River,...

The U.S. Geological Survey constructed a steady-state numerical groundwater flow model in cooperation with Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) to simulate groundwater flow conditions in the Des Moines River alluvial aquifer (DMRA) during winter low-flow conditions typical of December 2018-2020. The Des Moines River alluvial aquifer (DMRA) is an important source of water for Des Moines Water Works (DMWW), the municipal water utility that serves residential and commercial water needs in the city of Des Moines, Iowa and surrounding municipalities. A comprehensive understanding of groundwater flow processes in the DMRA is needed for DMWW to make decisions related to the management of this water resource. A three-layered model...

This dataset was developed for use with the Tennessee STATSGO data base as an additional datafile. Each record in the datafile relates to a STATSGO MUID number which is assigned to a polygon(s) in the STATSGO geographic coverage. Four soil attributes were derived from the COMP and LAYER datafiles of STATSGO, all of which are represented as percentages of the particular map unit's area. By representing these properties as percentages,...
