These reports describe in detail the history of individual oil & gas wells, including daily drilling activity, information on cores, showss amd drill-stem tests, and completion and production information. Well history reports - multiple page reports detailing drilling, testing, and completion work on oil & gas wells. This information should be scanned into a digital format that contains searchable data fields/metadata.

This collection contains coalbed methane desorption data on 31 coalbed methane test wells drilled in new Mexico. There are 589 pages of information. We would like to prepare a digital catalog of this infomartion and link that catalog to scanned images of the reports in order to increase/maximize utility.
Thin sections were scanned at 1x1 scale then enlarged in photoshop to make the features easily veiwable. Cross polarization film was used to create the cross polarized scans. This is a collection of thin sections from the state of New Mexico representing some of the formations in the state. Funding was provided by NGGDPP award G18AS00010.

Petrographic slides of New Mexico and surrounding areas used in Adam Smith's 2018 thesis: Multi-stage processes affecting the generation of REE-enriched episyenites and fenites in NM and Colorado: the role of magmatic and diagenetic fluids based on 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, whole rock geochemistry and radiogenic isotope. Field work was partially funded by New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources.

Maps are an essential tool for conveying information about natural resources, geologic hazards, and geologic history. One important role of the New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources (NMBGMR) is in the production and distribution of geologic and other types of maps. Many of our staff are involved in map production through our STATEMAP program and our Cartography/GIS group is responsible for producing the finished products.

This collection contains an estimated 3300 petroleum source rock and thermal maturity analyses on an estimated 175 wells and outcrop sections in New Mexico. Most data are in digital or scanned format in various topical reports. Others are in paper format and not yet electronically available. A comprehensive Access database is available on CD-ROM for source rock analyses acquired prior to 1998.

This collection contains the original and only copies of oil & gas scout tickets handwritten by the late Mr. Neill Wills. The information on the scout tickets came from Mr. Wills' personal geological files and information. Therefore, the information preserved in this collection is unique and one-of-a-kind. Wells are from all parts of New mexico, but are concentrated in the Permian Basin area. Texas records have not been inventoried. Neil Wills scout tickets - 20445 pages of handwritten oil & gas well scout tickets from 18125 oil & gas wells left to us by the late geologist Neil Wills. They contain Mr. Wills' personal information on the wells and are not available elsewhere. Stored in binders on 8 1/2 x 11 in...
Scanning and locating of mine locations funded by FY2018-2022 NGDDPP funding. Locations are quarter section or better.

This collection contains micropaleontologic age determinations on rock cuttings from 285 wells throughout New Mexico. There are 855 pages of information. This material has been donated or obtained as a result of survey research projects. Most data are fusulinid determinations on rocks of Upper Paleozoic age but there are some palynologic age determinations of other stratl age ranges as well. Located in the Subsurface Library.
Donation from Homestake Company of New Mexico geological data. Items include maps, assays, geological company reports, and legal documents.

Collection consists of 88310 paper well logs (including mud logs) from 46808 oil and gas wells, which are located almost exclusively within New Mexico, with a small percentage of the well logs in our collection coming from the neighboring states of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and Texas. This collection has been built over the past 60 years by accepting donated well logs. Many of the logs contain significant handwritten material such as formation tops, perforated, intervals, etc. Please contact us for a copy of our current log list.
Access to deliverables produced for Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (MRI) priorities under the National Geologic and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP).

Our core collection is housed in 7 insulated steel buildings that are designed for near-zero-cost maintenance. The building are unlit and unheated, but do have skylights which allows for use in our sunny climate. Tables are available for layout (limited) and there is a rock saw that can be used to take samples. The cores are stored in cardboard boxes on shelves, most of which are of modern steel construction but some of which are made of wood. Cores must be manually shelved and unshelved as aisle space in buildings is insufficient for use of a forklift. The collection consists of cores from 1433 drill holes, most of thich were drilled for oil , natural gas, or minerals. Some cores are from holes drilled for geothermal,...
A joint project between Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology and New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources this Journal was published between 1971 and 1996. Its purpose was to provide geochronological datasets focused on the western United States and the world. Latitude and Longitude data is regional since many articles had multiple states or counties.
