Collection consists of roughly 60000 digital raster images scanned from paper well logs by various parties. Each of these raster images matches a paper log in the paper logs collection. Originally, a private firm was contracted to scan the paper copies and provide digital versions in exchange for getting to keep copies for their subscription service. Of the original 800,000 logs to be scanned, only 50,000 have been delivered, the quality of which is quite poor. The remaining 10,000 images were scanned by curators at the request of patrons.

This is a collection of rock core chips housed in the Bureau of Economic Geology’s Core Research Centers.
The majority of these cores were acquired by the private sector during the drilling for oil and gas. They have been donated to UT BEG for curation.Unit of measurement is boxes, but that did not appear in the new drop-down chart.
