Average annual Actual Evapotranspiration (AET) rates for basins in east-central and northeast Florida from 2000 to 2017 were calculated using a water-budget balance equation. These AET rates are used to assess the reliability of the AET rates calculated using the Simplified Surface Energy Balance operational (SSEBop) method. The AET annual rates, from 2000 to 2017 for the Simplified Surface Energy Balance operational (SSEBop) method and from 2000 to 2016 for the land-cover method were provided in the shapefile AET_SJR_Basin_Cells, explained in the metadata file AET_SJR_Basins. Measured AET monthly rates in file AET_Monthly_Totals.csv were calculated at these ET monitoring stations in central and east-central Florida:...

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides microcystin, chlorophyll, and cell-count data for assessing the effect of salinity tolerance on cyanobacteria associated with a harmful algal bloom in Lake Okeechobee, Florida. All data are reported as raw measured values and are not rounded to USGS significant figures. Water and algal bloom material were collected from Lake Okeechobee, Florida on July 7, 2017. This dataset includes measurements of subsamples taken in the laboratory, collected July 9 to July 17, 2017, at nine different salinity concentrations.

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides velocity test data for assessing the effect of salinity tolerance on cyanobacteria associated with a harmful algal bloom in Lake Okeechobee, Florida, July 10 to 13, 2017. All data are reported as raw measured values and are not rounded to USGS significant figures. Water and algal bloom material were collected from Lake Okeechobee, Florida on July 7, 2017. This dataset includes continuous water-quality measurements take in the laboratory July 10 to July 13, 2017 measuring water temperature, specific conductance, salinity, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, and phycocyanin at five-minute intervals at velocities of 0.946, 0.271, and 0 feet per second...

In 2015, the total amount of water withdrawn in Florida was estimated at 15,319 million gallons per day (Mgal/d). This includes 9,598 Mgal/d of saline water and 5,721 Mgal/d of fresh water. Groundwater accounted for 3,604 Mgal/d and surface water accounted for 2,117 Mgal/d of the fresh water withdrawals. Surface water accounted for 9,400 Mgal/d and groundwater 198 Mgal/d of the saline water withdrawals. Water withdrawals are also tabulated by category (public supply, domestic self-supplied, commercial-industrial-mining self-supplied, agricultural irrigation, recreational-landscape irrigation, and power generation) and water management district (Northwest Florida, St Johns River, South Florida, Southwest Florida,...

This data release contains the shapefiles and data associated with the assessment of the principal mechanisms affecting the hydrology and water-quality characteristics at Caño Boquerón in Cabo Rojo and at Puerto Mosquito on Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico. The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board (PREQB), conducted a limnological study of these coastal waters to provide baseline information to the regulatory agencies responsible for the management and conservation of these coastal waters and the preservation of their aquatic life. Field measurements and water samples were collected and processed during July 2015–July 2016 for analysis of physical, chemical, biological,...
