The Arkansas Geological Survey (AGS) is the curator for the Norman F. Williams Well Sample Library and maintains well cuttings and core samples as a permanent record of rock strata that have been penetrated by wells drilled in Arkansas. Driller logs housed at the Survey contain the down hole information about the geology in the state. Each log gives the depth in feet along with the discription of material being drilled and the depth it accurs. The logs cover wells drilled in the early 1900’s to 1950’s and dispersed throughout the state giving statewide subsurface information.

The Northwest Boreal Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NWB LCC) is a partnership between agencies involved in land management across Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia. The NWB LCC aims to coordinate science and support to decision makers for improving land management decisions. Knowledge gaps have been identified by the NWB LCC and are beginning to be filled. One of the priority information gaps is knowledge of the anthropogenic footprint currently on the landscape. The anthropogenic footprint is all the disturbance types made by various human activities, usually through some form of industrial development. Examples include roads, power lines, pipelines, and clear cuts among many others....

This ScienceBase community represents the National Digital Catalog of the National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP). The National Digital Catalog includes metadata records describing geological, geophysical and biological collections and data managed by state geological surveys and USGS. These collections include rock samples, thin sections, field notebooks, photographs, maps, datasets, and others. Collections are described using metadata elements identified by the NGGDPP as important for discovering, understanding, accessing, and using physical collections. Contact and access information is provided for collections and individual samples to enable users to access information and material....

This collection is comprised of digital, slide and print photographs taken during minerals related field projects from 1970-2020. There are approximately 35,800 photos and slides that need to be culled, documented and archived. 81% of the photos are in digital format and most need to be manually matched with their locations from geologists’ field notes, although a small percentage have locations and descriptions that could easily be archived. The remaining 19% are slide and print format that need the same attention but are in fair to good condition for scanning purposes. There are 50 videos that are also part of this collection. These photos document field sites, geologic features, landscapes and landforms from...
