Measurements of fog, wind, fog interception, soil moisture, and fog effects on plant water use and plant survival were collected to test a model to estimate CWI as a function of fog-water movement and vegetation characteristics.

To examine Palau residents’ reliance on reef fish, we reviewed published peer-reviewed literature, non-governmental organizations’ surveys, and unpublished data from a survey conducted by this project’s team. Volume of reef fish caught, consumed, and bartered at periurban, urban, and rural states was compared to the area of reefs within state waters to calculate fishing pressure. Data on fish residential consumption was triangulated and synthesized across data sources, including PIs Oleson and Lewis’ unpublished data from a resident survey conducted in 2018, an SPC dataset of fisher households conducted in 2018, and peer-reviewed literature.

These datasets are created during the irrigation reanalysis workflow (irrigation_reanalysis.zip). The actet_openet.cbh, potet_openet.cbh, and dyn_ag_frac.param area created during step one of the workflow when converting daily OpenET/SSEBop results into input for the NHM. The nhm_2000_2020_ag_irrigation_add.csv, and nhm_2000_2020_ag_irrigation_add_vol.csv area estimated daily results output by the NHM.

Since 2005, the U.S. Geological Survey - Great Lakes Science Center's Lake Erie Biological Station (LEBS) has participated in a collaborative, multiagency effort to assess pelagic prey fish populations in the western (WB), central (CB), and eastern (EB) basins of Lake Erie through a combination of hydroacoustic and midwater trawl sampling. Assessing lake-wide distribution and abundance of pelagic prey species over time facilitates evaluation of large-scale drivers of fish production while also considering food-web dynamics at a smaller sub-basin scale. In August 2017, the U.S. Geological Survey acquired high-resolution P- and S-wave seismic data near six Southern California Seismic Network (SCSN) recording stations in southern California: CI.OLI Olinda; CI.SRN Serrano; CI.MUR Murrieta; CI.LCG La Cienega; CI.RUS Rush; and CI.STC Santa Clara (Figure 1). Fire history metrics enable rapidly increasing amounts of burned area data to be collapsed into a handful of data layers that can be used efficiently by diverse stakeholders. In this effort, the U.S. Geological Survey's Landsat Burned Area product was used to identify burned area across CONUS over a 40-year period (1984-2023). The Landsat BA product was consolidated into a suite of annual BA products, which in-turn were used to calculate a series of contemporary fire history metrics (30 m resolution). This product used species distribution modeling (SDM) to model the geographic distribution fire promoting grasses across the islands of Hawaii under both current climate conditions and under future climate change scenarios (RCP 8.5 at year 2100). With shortening snow season duration, snowshoe hares are experiencing increased camouflage mismatch with their environment reducing survival. Phenological variation of hare molt at regional scales could facilitate local adaptation in the face of climate change, but the level of variation, especially along the southern range boundary, is unknown. We created ADAPT to help partners make science-informed decisions related to species and habitat prioritization across the Southwest United States. We used Integrated Nested Laplace Approximation (INLA) to analyze the data at a 1-km resolution. We used climate and land use change data generated from CMIP 6 climate models. Count data were from eBird surveys and converted to presence/absence data for analysis. Our model consisted of fixed effects of elevation, land cover type, and effort with random effects for year and site as well as a spatial random effect. This data release provides a monthly irrigation water use reanalysis for the period 2000-20 for all USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset of Subwatersheds (HUC12) in the conterminous United States (CONUS). Results include reference evapotranspiration (ETo), actual evapotranspiration (ETa), irrigated areas, consumptive use, and effective precipitation for each HUC12. The 2018 eruption from the lower East Rift Zone of Kīlauea volcano, on the Island of Hawaiʻi, was one of the most significant and destructive events on the volcano in the past 200 years (Neal and others, 2019; Patrick and others, 2020; Anderson and others, 2023; Mulliken and others, 2024). This dataset is a compilation of completed, in progress, and planned restoration projects identified in the study area by the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) Project Tracker as of March 2022. The goal of compiling projects and information was to identify target resources and impacts of these projects in the study area. Projects were screened for action types, completion year, and resources intended to benefit from restoration in barrier island and shoreline systems. In addition, system components of structure and function were identified. The potential for geomorphological impacts was categorized among different types of projects.

Previous research identified species of invasive plants in Hawai'i which are highly flammable and act as fuels in wildfires across Hawai'i. This work aimed to map the distribution of these species (largely grasses) around the islands of Hawai'i with the goal of using the locations for species distribution modeling. All data represents presence data, no absence data were recorded. Data are largely from within the past 20 years, but some georeferenced herbarium specimens go as far back as 1905. Data were obtained from georeferenced herbarium specimens, vegetation plot data, citizen science data (iNaturalist) reviewed by the authors, and data from roadside surveys conducted as part of this research to map these species....

A warmer climate has increased the spread of mountain Pine beetle. Historically, mountain pine beetle populations were limited to southern regions due to cold temperature intolerance. However, increasing winter temperatures has allowed the species to spread further north, contributing to the loss of over 1 million ha of forest in the United States and 9 million ha in Canada.Data on mountain pine beetle damage was compiled by CMP Hi5 Working Group technical team.
