Scene in Monument Park, along Monument Creek, and the small tributaries that flow into it from the west, some of the most singular and unique monument formations to be met with in the whole country, and the view we have noted gives but a faint conception of their beauty. View is upon a small tributary of Monument Creek, about 9 miles above Colorado City. The stream has cut a little valley through a coarse material with layers of irregular deposition, hardened into a compact sandstone. Then comes a thin layer of ironstone, or impure limonite, with now and then this seams of marl or clay, but the whole is a quartzite material, and rather coarse.
