This collection consists of 4,867 aerial photos (mostly 9”x9”; mainly black & white, some color) that were primarily flown or acquired by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and are organized on a 7.5-minute quadrangle basis. Aerial photography was flown on different dates and frequencies in the quadrangles but, as a collection, the dates range from 1936 to 1991. Scale of the photography varies but primarily ranges from approximately 1:12,000 to 1:35,400. The proportion of the quadrangle covered in each flight also varies and sometimes extends beyond quadrangle borders. These photographs were donated to the Maryland Geological Survey (MGS). There is no all-encompassing set of photo indexes associated with this...

This collection is comprised of digital, slide and print photographs taken during minerals related field projects from 1970-2015. There are approximately 35,800 photos and slides that need to be culled, documented and archived. 81% of the photos are in digital format and most need to be manually matched with their locations from geologists’ field notes, although a small percentage have locations and descriptions that could easily be archived. The remaining 19% are slide and print format that need the same attention but are in fair to good condition for scanning purposes. There are 50 videos that are also part of this collection. These photos document field sites, geologic features, landscapes and landforms from...
