This map was last updated May 2012. This map service presents low-resolution satellite imagery for the world and high-resolution (1m or better) imagery for the United States and other areas around the world. The service includes NASA Blue Marble: Next Generation 500m resolution imagery at small scales (above 1:1,000,000), i-cubed 15m eSAT imagery at medium-to-large scales (down to 1:70,000) for the world, and US This map was last updated May 2012. The USGS GAP Analysis Program has developed range maps and distribution models for 1401 species, 604 of which are found within the SRLCC. This record's parent folder contains several examples of GAP species web services. The GAP website has a complete list of available web services for species as well as a map viewer for species data. Species: Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) There are two web services for this species: the range map, showing the geographic limits within which the species can be found, and a distribution model, which predicts the environment within the range that is suitable for occupation by the species. Link to metadata for GAP range maps and distribution models. To access services, select...
Global circulation models (GCM) of future climates predict extreme change for the Southwestern United States (Solomon and others, 2007; Diffenbaugh and others, 2008). Temperatures are projected to increase 3.5–4°C within the next 60–90 years while precipitation is projected to decline by 5–20 percent (Seager and others, 2007). The coalescing effect of these changes in temperature and precipitation in this already arid region will profoundly affect the distributions and viability of plant and animal populations. Region-wide ecosystem processes and system dynamics will be especially sensitive to relatively small shifts in climate in the arid and semi-arid environments (Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, 2005). Managers...
This map presents summaries of conservation elements by reporting unit (HUC5) alongside terrestrial intactness and long-term potential for change. This includes the NatureServe Species Summary dataset.
This map shows least-cost corridors and large natural habitat blocks. These blocks and corridors may provide an essential network for various species to disperse through the landscape. Blocks are based on large areas of contiguous natural vegetation cover, and are subdivided by major roads. We connected blocks using sticks (to define a pair of blocks between which to model corridors), and developed least-cost corridors based on a cost surface developed from land cover.

This map shows water-based recreation travel corridors (selected from NHD flowlines), and land-based recreation travel corridors (selected from BLM GTLF within federal / state lands and national trails).
