Regional regression equations were calculated in Puerto Rico with generalized least squares techniques to estimate flood frequency statistics at ungaged locations using drainage area as the only explanatory variable. The island was divided into 2 regions to minimize residuals. The region division that resulted in lower and more balanced residuals runs primarily north-south near the center of the island, mostly along an 8-digit hydrologic unit code (HUC8) boundary. The division line runs through a HUC8 polygon on the southern end of the island, but care was taken to include entire watersheds and consideration was given where hydrologic and physiographic properties differed. This data release includes geographic information...

The data set consists of marine seismic-reflection data that includes 34 SEGY data files, navigation data and a CSV format file with a list of files. The archived SEGY files, navigation files, and detailed metadata for these seismic reflections can also be downloaded from the National Archive of Marine Seismic Surveys (NAMSS). https://walrus.wr.usgs.gov/namss//survey/B-1-13-FL/ Marine seismic-reflection data were acquired in canals in eastern Broward County at two different times: February 2010 and April-June 2013, resulting in 34 SEGY data files.

A detailed table summarizing the irrigated acreage by crop type and irrigation system was developed for the 2018 growing season (November 2017 and September 2018) for Hillsborough County, Florida. The acreage totals presented are derived from the results of a cooperative project that mapped and field-verified irrigated fields in Hillsborough County, Florida. In addition, the table provides acreage totals by crop type published by the U.S. Department of Commerce for 1978 and 1982 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for years between 1987 and 2012.

A detailed table summarizing the irrigated acreage by crop type and irrigation system was developed for the 2018 growing season (November 2017 and September 2018) for Charlotte County, Florida. The acreage totals presented are derived from the results of a cooperative project that mapped and field-verified irrigated fields in Charlotte County, Florida. In addition, the table provides acreage totals by crop type published by the U.S. Department of Commerce for 1978 and 1982 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for years between 1987 and 2012.

An interdisciplinary and multiagency study was conducted in southern Florida to examine harmful algal bloom (HAB) dynamics on the Caloosahatchee River, which drains from Lake Okeechobee to the west into the Gulf of Mexico. Using in-situ mesocosm experiments, ammonium, nitrate, phosphate, and urea were altered from ambient conditions to determine the effects on cyanotoxin biosynthesis gene presence and quantity as measured via quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Eight experiments were conducted seasonally from May 2019 through July 2021 at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam. The experimental installations consisted of three floating metal cradles each containing four opaque fiberglass chambers filled with...

U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with Miami-Dade County, performed a sequential, aquifer stress test from August 15 to October 12, 2011, on the Floridan aquifer system at the North District Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Miami-Dade County stressed the Floridan aquifer system with four municipal injection wells at the North District Wastewater Treatment Plant. Injection wells IW–1, IW–3, and IW–4 stressed the aquifer system with injection of as much as 1.8 cubic meters of effluent per second. Injection well IW–2 stressed the aquifer system with pressure release from the injection zone, caused by reverse flow of as much as 0.04 cubic meters of formation fluid mixed with effluent...
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, has compiled a series of geospatial datasets for Puerto Rico to be implemented into the USGS StreamStats application (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ss/). These geospatial datasets, along with basin characteristics datasets for Puerto Rico published as a separate USGS data release (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9HK9SSQ), were used to delineate watersheds and develop the peak-flow and low-flow regression equations used by StreamStats.

A detailed table summarizing the irrigated acreage by crop type and irrigation system was developed for the 2018 growing season (November 2017 and September 2018) for Lee County, Florida. The acreage totals presented are derived from the results of a cooperative project that mapped and field-verified irrigated fields in Lee County, Florida. In addition, the table provides acreage totals by crop type published by the U.S. Department of Commerce for 1978 and 1982 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for years between 1987 and 2012.

Daily measurements of evaporation using the Bowen ratio method were made at USGS station name LZ40 (USGS site number 265405080472100), a platform-based station constructed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) at the approximate center of Lake Okeechobee, Florida. Meteorological and environmental variables were measured every 30 seconds and averaged at 15-minute resolution, including: water temperature (surface and profile), air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and incoming/outgoing short and longwave radiation.

A shapefile of the extent of irrigated agricultural fields which includes an attribute table of the irrigated acreage for the period between November 2022 and June 2023 was compiled for the full county extents of Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Osceola, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, and Volusia Counties, Florida. These eleven counties are fully or partially within the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD). Attributes for each polygon that represents a field include a general or specific crop type, irrigation system, and primary water source for irrigation.

Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) data were compiled for the biosynthesis genes of five toxins of interest produced by cyanobacteria as well as an internal control. Sample deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) were collected from 21 sites which includes 17 sites from Lake Okeechobee, and four sites from the Caloosahatchee River and the St. Lucie River. Samples were collected on a monthly basis from March 2019 through October 2021, provided water levels were high enough for a sample to be collected. Samples from Lake Okeechobee were collected by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and samples from the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie Rivers were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Environmental...
