On February 14th, 2019, a strong atmospheric river storm (AR4 on the Atmospheric River scale of Ralph et al., 2019) struck California. The heavy rainfall caused landslides in both northern and southern California (Hatchett et al., 2020). This data release includes two subsets of mapped shallow landslide source locations in the vicinity of western Riverside County, California, where sufficient post-event imagery was available within Google Earth (image date: August 15, 2019). The data release includes: 1) .csv files containing the point locations of shallow hillslope landslides, 2) .zip files containing shapfiles (.shp) of the mapped study areas. Ralph, F., Rutz, J. Periphyton is a complex community of detritus, bacteria, fungi, and algae that grows attached to submerged substrates. Assemblage structure data for algae and cyanobacteria from periphyton samples were collected on a monthly basis from 2017 to 2021. Compiled data were reported as absolute abundance (cells) and biovolume per volume as well as absolute abundance (cells) and biovolume per area at four locations increasing in distance East of the L-67 canal in Water Conservation Area 3 (WCA 3) of the Florida Everglades immediately north of Everglades National Park. The periphyton assemblages were analyzed for five sample types including periphyton plates (Plates), invertebrate inclusion and exclusion plates (Inverts),...

This dataset details individual species and natural habitat vulnerability rankings, including contextual study-specific information. This data was collected from original publications found through a literature search. Information is cumulative to include climate change vulnerability assessment (CCVA) results summarized in Staudinger et al. (2015) and published as of December 2023.
This data release contains the climate change model inputs and Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model outputs from 360 HUC-8 watersheds in the Midwest United States (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin), that were generated using the HAWQS (Hydrologic and Water Quality System) platform (https://hawqs.tamu.edu). The summarized data for a watershed-based climate change vulnerability assessment for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is also provided, along with the R code used to summarize the raw outputs. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and related chemical and physical data are presented from 100 shallow soil sampling locations within the State of New Hampshire. Sites were randomly determined through an equal-area grid approach (Scott, 1990) targeting undisturbed areas, which included lands classified by the 2016 National Land Cover Database (Dewitz, 2019) as forested, shrubland, scrubland, grassland, herbaceous, wetlands, or barren land. Sampling sites were located at the closest point to the random location identified, where access and permission were available. To limit the potential for sampling results to be influenced by local releases of PFAS, a 500-meter buffer around parcels associated with known...

Wetland restoration efforts conducted by the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in Louisiana rely on monitoring to determine the efficacy of these projects. The Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS) was developed to assist in a multiple-reference approach that uses aspects of hydrogeomorphic functional assessments and probabilistic sampling for monitoring. The CRMS program includes a suite of approximately 390 sites that encompass the range of hydrological and ecological conditions for each stratum. As part of CRMS, land and water classifications are created from Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quadrangles (DOQQs) approximately every three years at all CRMS sites. This dataset consists...

An intrusion into Kīlauea’s upper East Rift Zone during June 17–19, 2007, during the 1983–2018 Pu‘u‘ō‘ō eruption, led to widespread ground cracking and a small (~1,525 m3) eruption on the northeast flank of the Kānenuiohamo cone, about 6 km upslope from the Pu‘u‘ō‘ō vent. Transmitted and induced very-low-frequency (VLF) magnetic fields were measured with a handheld VLF receiver along transects spanning the dike trace, and zones of ground cracking related to the intrusion were mapped. This dataset records the density and vesicularity of selected lava and tephra samples collected from the June 2007 Father's Day eruption site. The density of the basalt erupted was determined by measuring the weight of spatter and lava...

Resource managers and users seek information that can be used to balance the needs of competing uses of groundwater and streamflow in the Heeia watershed, Oahu. A previously constructed steady-state numerical groundwater-flow model for the island of Oahu, Hawaii (https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20205126) using MODFLOW-2005 with the Seawater Intrusion (SWI2) package was used to examine the effects of withdrawals in the watershed. Four simulations representing a baseline and various withdrawal conditions were run using the previously published numerical model. The baseline simulation represents conditions in 2001-10 which were used to calibrate the Oahu model and to which all other scenarios are compared. The three scenarios...

These data were compiled for Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge (CPNWR) in southern Arizona, to support managment efforts of water resources and wildlife conservation. Objective(s) of our study were to 1) measure water storage capacity at select stage heights in three tanks (also termed tinajas), 2) build a stage storage model to help CPNWR staff accurately estimate water volumes throughout the year, and 3) collect topographic data adjacent to the tanks as a means to help connect these survey data to past or future work. These data represent high-resolution (sub-meter) ground based lidar measurements used to meet these objectives and are provided as: processed lidar files (point clouds), rasters (digital elevation...

In December 2022, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) flew uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) to collect very high-resolution imagery and lidar data of Vicksburg National Military Park to address areas of substantial landslide hazard within the park. The fine spatial resolution and high accuracy of this data are needed to fully characterize and quantify landslides and to understand the potential for continued landslide activity in other areas of the park. UAS flights were conducted by the USGS National Uncrewed Systems Office (NUSO). This data release publishes the 0.5m DTM created from the UAS-borne lidar data collected in December 2022.

This dataset uses the ITIS recommended Ortmanniana pectorosa, Conrad, 1834 in place of Actinonaias pectorosa, which was used in the Richard et al. 2020 manuscript. Biologists monitoring freshwater mussel (Order Unionida) populations rely on behavioral, often subjective, symptoms to identify “sick” or stressed animals, such as gaping valves and slow response to probing and lack clinical indicators to support a diagnosis. As part of a multi-year study to investigate causes of reoccurring mortality of pheasantshell (Ortmanniana pectorosa, Conrad 1834) in the Clinch River, Virginia and Tennessee, USA, we analyzed the hemolymph metabolome of a subset of mussels from the 2018 sampling period. Mussels at the mortality...
