Permafrost (perennially frozen) and active-layer (seasonally thawed) soils varying in soil carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) content and radiocarbon age were collected from three sites in interior Alaska to determine potential release of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), total dissolved N (TDN), dissolved organic nitrogen (DON), and dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) upon thaw. Soil cores were cut into 15 cm thick sections, and deep active-layer (15-30 cm above the permafrost boundary) and shallow permafrost (15-30 cm below the permafrost boundary) sections were thawed and leached with deionized water. Soil leachates were analyzed for DOC, TDN, nitrate (NO3-), and ammonium (NH4+) concentrations, dissolved organic matter...

This dataset contains measurements of dissolved hydrocarbons in various water sources, as well as ancillary raw calibration data showing the stability of the gas chromatograph with an atomic emission detector and flame ionization detector (GC-AED-FID) analytical system over time. Across multiple studies, samples from tap water, groundwater, surface water, springs, mine outflows, and blank materials were analyzed using this system over a period from 2014 to 2017, comprising 172 samples analyzed. In addition to water samples, 183 calibrations conducted over the same period of time are included to document the stability of the GC-AED-FID system over time. The target analytes in this study were: methane (CH4), ethane...

This dataset includes mercury and other constituent concentration and physical properties data for seven deep sediment profiles (ranging from 79 cm to 214 cm in length) collected from the thalwag of Alviso Slough, a major tributary to South San Francisco Bay (California, USA). Field sampling occurred during May 2012 (4 sites) and January 2016 (3 sites). Each profile was comprised of 1–4 core sub-sections, which were collected from adjacent boreholes with 10–18 cm of vertical overlap. This data product includes two data tables (*.csv): 1) ‘T1_ALSL_DC_Sed_Data.csv’, the deep core analytical results; 2) ‘T2_ALSL_DC_QA_Data.csv’, quality assurance data. The two image files, ‘ALSL_DC_Log_2012.pdf’ and ‘ALSL-DC_Log_2016.pdf’,...

This release contains data from field and laboratory tests conducted by the USGS Groundwater Dating Laboratory between 2014 and 2017 during the development of a new dissolved and gas phase carbon dioxide sensor. The release also contains results of calibration, intercomparison, temperature, humidity, and stability experiments, as well as monitoring studies of CO2 in soil surface gas in the Amargosa Desert during the Toxic Substances Hydrology Amargosa Desert Research Site (ADRS) project, and measurements of dissolved CO2 (pCO2) in Upper Klamath Lake, in laboratory plant mesocosm studies at USGS headquarters in Reston, Virginia, as well as in creeks and streams in Northern Virginia.

Data release, including sedimentation, inorganic nutrient release, pre-restoration soil physico-chemistry, post-restoration soil physico-chemistry, and GPS location of plots.
This data release has been superseded by a more recent version, which can be found here: https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/5e860936e4b01d50927fa6dd Monitoring the chloride (Cl) flux in the major rivers draining Yellowstone National Park (YNP) provides a holistic view of the thermal output from the underlying magma chamber, and abrupt fluctuations in the Cl flux may signify changes in thermal activity. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Park Service (NPS) have collaborated on Cl flux monitoring of the major rivers since the 1970s. In the past, researchers collected water samples from the major rivers in YNP, but funding restrictions, winter conditions, and the great distances between sites...

These geospatial data sets were developed as part of a new analysis of all known current and historical rain gages in the Luquillo Mountains, Puerto Rico published in the journal article Murphy, S.F., Stallard, R.F., Scholl, M.A., Gonzalez, G., and Torres-Sanchez, A.J., 2017, Reassessing rainfall in the Luquillo Mountains, Puerto Rico: Local and global ecohydrological implications: PLOS One 12(7): e0180987, p. 1-26, https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0180987. That article provides a revised map of mean annual precipitation developed using elevation regression functions and residual interpolation, and that map is presented here in a raster file. Most previous forest- and watershed-wide estimates of precipitation...

These analyses provide the basic geochemical composition of urban stormwater runoff from rainwater/stormwater that does or has the potential to infiltrate groundwater from Green Infrastructure control measures. These measures are able to mimic the natural landscape with engineered designed systems to enhance stormwater infiltration to groundwater.

Data Release from the High-Flow Field Experiments to Inform Everglades Restoration: Experimental Data 2010 to 2018. Data were obtained from field sites located in the Everglades between two canals (L-67A and L-67C) from 2010 to 2018. During this time, five major controlled flow releases occurred by opening the culvert S152 on canal L-67A. Data consist of water velocity (continuous and discrete), water levels (continuous and discrete), suspended sediment concentration, load and flux (discrete), suspended phosphorus concentration, load and flux (discrete), grainsize distribution (continuous and discrete),...

1: Model Archive: Simulation of Rhodamine Dye Concentration and Larval Drift, Kootenai River, Idaho. This archive contains results of lagrangian particle-tracking (LPT) simulations of both the dispersal of rhodamine dye and larval drift. The LPT model is a research effort and the simulations here provide some of the first experimental validation of the results for dispersal of a conservative constituent (Rhodamine WT-20). The larval drift simulations however have not been validated and the results should be viewed in this context. The simulations may contain 20 - 30 Gb of results. The archive is split into child-items to help distinguish the individual components of the archive and make downloading of large files...
Chloropyron maritimum subsp. maritimum population counts at Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, California, and tide and weather data from San Diego, California, are used to explain interannual variation in Chloropyron counts and to predict past population counts.
