These data are chemical analyses of discrete samples of groundwater, stream base flow, and springs collected to support a U.S. Geological Survey study to estimate the timing and source of recharge to the basalt groundwater system in the Umatilla River basin, Oregon. Categories of data include: (1) site information (2) field measurements, (3) tracers of groundwater age and source, and (4) dissolved noble gases. These data were collected during August 26, 2014 – September 13, 2022. Data are in .csv file format.

Optimal hydrograph separation (OHS) is a two-component, hydrograph separation method that uses a two-parameter, recursive digital filter (RDF) constrained via chemical mass balance to estimate the base flow contribution to a stream or river (Rimmer and Hartman, 2014; Raffensperger et al., 2017). A recursive digital filter distinguishes between high-frequency and low-frequency discharge data within a hydrograph, where high-frequency data corresponds to quick flow or storms and low-frequency data corresponds to base flow. This dataset, VegDischarge v1, represents a significant contribution to the understanding of hydrological dynamics across Africa from 2000 to 2021. It encompasses high-resolution (1km x 1km) monthly raster data of deep drainage, surface runoff, and total runoff, derived from the VegET (VegetationEvapoTranspiration) hydrological model (Senay et al., 2023). Additionally, routed discharge data (Mizukami et al., 2021) for over 63,000 river segments is provided, employing different routing algorithms (DW, KW, KWT, MC, and IRF) to demonstrate variability in river discharge patterns. This topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) represents the topography and bathymetry for the Eastern Shore peninsula of Virginia, including Accomack and Northampton counties, and extending into Worcester and Somerset counties in Maryland. The TBDEM has a horizontal grid spacing of 1 meter and vertical units of 1 (integer) centimeter. This dataset combines U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center Coastal National Elevation Database topobathymetric DEM (CoNED TBDEM) data with data from the USGS Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain DEM, the latter of which were used to extend the bathymetric surface further offshore.
