This report provides an assessment of climate change-related challenges, needs, and opportunities to advance landscape-scale conservation, climate change adaptation, and sustainable resource management in the North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC) region. The NPLCC funded this report to inform NPLCC members, specifically the Science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (S-TEK) Subcommittee, as they assess priorities and develop their 2013-2016 Strategy for Science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge. The report identifies conservation delivery, applied science, and science and data provision opportunities the NPLCC could consider to support resource managers, conservation practitioners, and researchers...

The overarching goal of the project was to develop overlapping conceptual models of environmental and community health indicators in reference to climate forecasts. The sensitivity of species and habitats to climate were cross-walked with recently developed Coast Salish community health indicators (e.g. ceremonial use, knowledge exchange, and physiological well-being) in order to demonstrate how Indigenous Knowledge can be used in conjunction with established landscape-level conservation indicators (e.g. shellfish and water-quality) and employed to identify resource management priorities. While results are unique to study participants, no Indigenous community in the coastal Pacific Northwest is immune to the impending...
Trout Unlimited will extend its existing Adopt-a-Trout program to the Henrys Fork River, a tributary to the Green River in the Colorado River basin. The project will include work with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and local schools to tag and monitor Colorado River Cutthroat trout movements to learn more about fish passage issues, areas of high entrainment, habitat use, and native and wild trout migratory patterns. Colorado River Cutthroat trout are native to the Henrys Fork River and occupy portions of the drainage; however, no data exists for Colorado River Cutthroat trout in the Wyoming portion of the Henrys Fork drainage to understand population dynamics and habitat restraints.

Climate impacts potentially affect all levels of park planning and management. Climate adaptation planning seeks to identify and proactively prepare for potential climate change impacts on management sectors. Taking a proactive approach can help reduce future risks, capitalize on new opportunities, and minimize losses due to climate change. Most importantly, integrating climate impacts into park planning and management will help park managers continue to meet their mission of protecting natural and cultural resources, providing recreation opportunities, and protecting the health and safety of park visitors.

This annotated bibliography is a supplement to the Guidelines for Considering Traditional Knowledges in Climate Change Initiatives and is intended to demonstrate the ways that existing is already considering TKs in law, policy and natural resource management. Additionally, this bibliography provides access to research which addresses ongoing issues surrounding the protection and use of TKs, including appropriation of Indigenous cultural and intellectual property, legal and policy hurdles that TK users and holders face in collaborating in an equitable manner with researchers, government agencies and others, and the development of research protocols to ensure just collaboration between TK holders and researchers....
The Improving Crop Coefficients for the Middle Rio Grande Project (ICCMRG Project) was completed by the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer (NMOSE) under a grant from the United States Bureau of Reclamation. The objective of the ICCMRG Project is to assess actual crop water use for the years 2011 and 2013 through remote sensing technologies that estimate the evapotranspiration (ET) of individual crops within the Middle Rio Grande (MRG). The purpose of this assessment is to verify and/or improve crop coefficient (Kc) values being used in reference ET methods, modeling, and decision making tools. Current models rely on locally calibrated methods that are decades old, or on generic ET methods that must be calibrated...
