Panorama with Image 587. View is north from Pennell Peak, Dark Canyon in background. The Horn is a laccolith extending north from Mount Pennell. Ragged Mountain is porphyry apparently lying upon the flat sandstone beds that surround its base but the strata are turned up steeply, locally even overturned, against a vertical contact around the porphyry. The prominent canyon on the south side of Mount Ellen is Slate Creek and the rim of the Bromide Basin forms its head. Garfield County, Utah. August, 1937.
