The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Oyster Bayou Marsh Creation and Terracing (CS-59) project for 2018. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within...
Cassiterite (SnO2), a main ore mineral in tin deposits, was collected by multiple Russian geologists or obtained from museum collections in both the USA and Russia and dated at the U.S. Geological Survey. The dated samples represent four different mining districts spanning the entire country from the village of Pitkäranta in the west (31° E Longitude) to the Merekskoe Deposit in the Russian Far East (134°E Longitude). The samples were recovered from a variety of host deposit types that range from the Proterozoic to Phanerozoic. Cassiterite (in the form of mounted loose grains) was prepared and analyzed for direct age dating on a laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) system at the...
A side scan image collected with Humminbird Helix 10 on November 14, 2019. Side scan sonar creates a picture or an image of the riverbed. To generate an image, side scanners measures the strength of how loud the return sonar pings are.
A slope raster generated from multibeam bathymetry and terrestrial lidar collected simultaneously on November 14, 2019. Slope represents the rate of change of elevation under the water column.
A digital elevation model generated from multibeam bathymetry and terrestrial lidar collected simultaneously on November 14, 2019.
A backscatter raster generated from multibeam bathymetry and terrestrial lidar collected simultaneously on November 14, 2019. Backscatter is the reflection of a signal and can help when determining bottom types. Harder bottom types (like rock) reflect more sound than softer bottom types (like mud), and smoother bottom types reflect more sound than rugged bottom types.
A digital elevation model hillshade generated from multibeam bathymetry and terrestrial lidar collected simultaneously on November 14, 2019. A hillshade is a grayscale 3D representation of a surface.
