This dataset contains the daily average base flow, as determined by hydrograph separation, for 14 watersheds in Gwinnett County, Georgia for October 2001 through September 2020. Hydrograph separations were done using the Web-based Hydrograph Analysis Tool (WHAT) using the simple local minimum method on the daily average streamflows, which are also provided in this dataset. Base flow along with the calculated base-flow index (the proportion of base flow to total flow) were used to characterize groundwater recharge and the relative degree of storm runoff in the watersheds. Base flow was also used as predictor variable in models for estimating streamwater constituent loads for 12 water-quality constituents at 13 of...

This dataset is part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Restoration Assessment (GLCWRA) initiative. These data represent the flowline network in the Upper Peninsula Restoration Assessment (UPRA). It is attributed with the number of disconnections (e.g., road crossings) between the reach and Lake Ontario. The more road crossings on a flowline the more disconnected that area is from the lake and the less suitable it will be for restoration. These data help identify the condition of hydrologic separation between potential restoration areas and Lake Ontario. Low numbers represent fewer disconnections, such as culverts, between the reach and the water body requiring no flow network modification...

This portion of the USGS data release presents bathymetry data collected during surveys performed in the Columbia River littoral cell, Washington and Oregon in 2020 (USGS Field Activity Number 2020-622-FA). Bathymetry data were collected using four personal watercraft (PWCs) equipped with single-beam sonar systems and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. The sonar systems consisted of an Odom Echotrac CV-100 single-beam echosounder and 200 kHz transducer with a 9-degree beam angle. Raw acoustic backscatter returns were digitized by the echosounder with a vertical resolution of 1.25 cm. Depths from the echosounders were computed using sound velocity profiles measured using a YSI CastAway CTD during...

This dataset contains the percentage of 14 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) land cover classes within the drainage areas of 15 watersheds in Gwinnett County, Georgia from 2001 to 2019. The dataset includes scenes from eight years, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016, and 2019, which were analyzed using a consistent approach so that they could be used to assess land cover changes. The NLCD dataset is derived from Landsat imagery and has a grid size of 30 meters. The fourteen land cover classes were categorized into eight land cover groups to simplify the presentation of watershed land cover characteristics (1. developed, low intensity; 2. developed, medium intensity; 3. developed, high intensity; 4. developed,...

This dataset contains velocity and flow log data collected in 2004 for two Yucaipa Valley Water District (YVWD) public-supply wells, YVWD 55 and YVWD 56. Data were collected using the tracer-pulse method described in Izbicki and others (1999), in which a pulse of a rhodamine dye tracer is injected to a known depth in the well and the travel time of the tracer to a detector on the surface is measured. Velocity and cumulative flow are calculated from the dye-arrival times using methods described by Izbicki and others (1999). Flow for well YVWD 55 was calculated using the pump within the screened interval, which captured flow from above and below the pump intake. Flow for well YVWD 56 was calculated using the pump...

This portion of the USGS data release presents sediment grain-size data from samples collected on the Elwha River delta, Washington, in July 2017 (USGS Field Activity Number 2017-638-FA). Surface sediment was collected on July 20, 2017 at a total of 80 locations using a small ponar, or 'grab', sampler from the R/V Frontier in water depths between about 1 and 17 m around the delta. An additional 31 samples were collected by hand at low tide. A handheld global satellite navigation system (GNSS) receiver was used to determine the locations of sediment samples. Grab samples that yielded less than 50 g of sediment were omitted from analysis. The grain-size distributions of samples that yielded more than 50 g of sediment...
