This dataset maps the connectivity and bottlenecks among habitat patches within a six-kilometer ribbon along the United States terrestrial coastline of the Great Lakes. Each pixel represents the relative value that cell contributes to connectivity between and among habitat patches. When aggregated the pixel values produce a map of all possible pathways between habitat patches providing the end user with an understanding of each pathways potential to facilitate or impede species movement. This report is one in a series of digital maps, data files, and reports generated by the US Geological Survey (USGS) to provide geologic information for the Interior Columbia Basin Ecosystem Management Project (ICBEMP), a US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management interagency project. The various digital maps and data files that were provided by teh USGS and that are available in this and other reports are being used in a geographic information system (GIS)-based ecosystem assessment. The assessment will include a comprehensive analysis of past, present, and future ecosystem conditions within the general area of the Columbia River Basin east of the Cascade Mountains.

Digital datasets were used to develop basin characteristics whose values are used in multiple regression equations and tested for the use in predicting flow-duration curves (FDCs) in ungaged areas of Illinois and Indiana. Several basin characteristics are easily derived from StreamStats (https://streamstats.usgs.gov/ss/) basin delineations themselves, such as basin area and basin centroid. The RCMAP (Rangeland Condition Monitoring Assessment and Projection) dataset quantifies the percent cover of rangeland components across the western U.S. using Landsat imagery from 1985-2021. The RCMAP product suite consists of nine fractional components: annual herbaceous, bare ground, herbaceous, litter, non-sagebrush shrub, perennial herbaceous, sagebrush, shrub, and tree, in addition to the temporal trends of each component. Approximately one-third of the global population of black-footed albatrosses (Phoebastria nigripes) nest at Midway Atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. As part of an effort to monitor albatross at this globally important site, USFWS personnel and volunteers conduct an annual, spatially-explicit, atoll-wide albatross census during peak nesting when albatrosses are attending an egg (December-January). The High Plains aquifer extends from about 32 degrees to almost 44 degrees north latitude and from about 96 degrees 30 minutes to 106 degrees west longitude. The aquifer underlies about 175,000 square miles in parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. This digital dataset is comprised of water-level measurements from 7,195 wells measured in both 2017 and 2019, which were used to map water-level changes, 2017 to 2019. The map was reviewed for consistency with the relevant data at a scale of 1:1,000,000.

Publicly accessible open spaces provide valuable opportunities for people to exercise, play, socialize, and build community. People are more likely to use public open spaces that are close (ideally within walking distance) to their homes. The dataset presented here represents a circa 2010 land/water delineation of coastal Louisiana used in part of a larger study to quantify landscape changes from 1932 to 2016. The dataset contains two categories, land and water. For the purposes of this effort, land includes areas characterized by emergent vegetation, upland, wetland forest, or scrub-shrub were classified as land, while open water, aquatic beds, and mudflats were classified as water. Prior research has shown that sediment budgets, and therefore stability, of microtidal marsh complexes scale with areal unvegetated to vegetated marsh ratios (UVVR) suggesting these metrics are broadly applicable indicators of microtidal marsh vulnerability. The datasets are summarized by 10-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC10), and land area change through time is fit using a penalized regression smooth spline. The trends are therefore generalized in time and are intended to present coarse scale observations of trends in wetland area change.
