This dataset includes a reference baseline used by the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) to calculate rate-of-change statistics for the sheltered north coast of Alaska coastal region between the Colville River and Point Barrow for the time period 1947 to 2012. This baseline layer serves as the starting point for all transects cast by the DSAS application and can be used to establish measurement points used to calculate shoreline-change rates.
This dataset consists of rate-of-change statistics for the shorelines at Barter Island, Alaska for the time period 1947 to 2020. Rate calculations were computed within a GIS using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) version 5.0, an ArcGIS extension developed by the U.S. Geological Survey. A reference baseline was used as the originating point for the orthogonal transects cast by the DSAS software. The transects intersect each shoreline establishing measurement points, which are then used to calculate shoreline change rates.

These metadata describe ship navigation tracklines from a 2018 multibeam echosounder survey near Noyo Submarine Canyon and vicinity, southeast Alaska. Data were collected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) aboard the NOAA survey vessel Fairweather and the data were post-processed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) for PCMSC research projects. The tracklines are provided as a GIS shapefile.

This part of DS 781 presents data for the isopachs of the Point Sur to Point Arguello, California, region. The vector data file is included in the “Isopachs_PointSurToPointArguello.zip,” which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/P97CZ0T7. As part of the USGS's California State Waters Mapping Project, a 50-m grid of sediment thickness for the seafloor within the 3-nautical mile limit between Point Sur and Point Arguello was generated from seismic-reflection data collected between 2008 and 2014, and supplemented with geologic structure (fault and fold) information following the methodology of Wong (2012). Reference Cited: Wong, F. L., Phillips, E.L., Johnson, S.Y., and Sliter, R.W., 2012, Modeling of depth...

From 2013 to 2015, bathymetric surveys of New York City’s six West of Hudson reservoirs (Ashokan, Cannonsville, Neversink, Pepacton, Rondout, and Schoharie) were performed to provide updated capacity tables and bathymetric maps. Depths were surveyed with a single-beam echo sounder and real-time kinematic global positioning system (RTK-GPS) along planned transects at predetermined intervals for each reservoir. A separate set of echo sounder data was collected along transects at oblique angles to the main transects for accuracy assessment. Field survey data was combined with water-surface elevations in a geographic information system to create three-dimensional surfaces representing reservoir-bed elevations in the...

The travel time map was generated using the Pedestrian Evacuation Analyst model from the USGS. The travel time analysis uses ESRI's Path Distance tool to find the shortest distance across a cost surface from any point in the hazard zone to a safe zone. This cost analysis considers the direction of movement and assigns a higher cost to steeper slopes, based on a table contained within the model. The analysis also adds in the energy costs of crossing different types of land cover, assuming that less energy is expended walking along a road than walking across a sandy beach. To produce the time map, the evacuation surface output from the model is grouped into 1-minute increments for easier visualization. The times in...

This part of DS 781 presents data for bathymetric contours for several seafloor maps of the Offshore of Point Conception Map Area, California. The vector data file is included in "Contours_OffshorePointConception.zip," which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/F7QN64XQ. Bathymetry contours of the Offshore of Point Conception map area in southern California was generated from acoustic-bathymetry data collected by Fugro Pelagos Inc. Acoustic mapping was completed in 2008 using a combination of 400-kHz Reson 7125, 240-kHz Reson 8101, and 100-kHz Reson 8111 multibeam echosounders. Bathymetric-lidar data was collected in the nearshore area by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Joint Lidar Bathymetry Technical...

This polygon shapefile is the delineation of the upper Umatilla River study area boundary. It is split into two regions, the Blue Mountains and the Lowland Plains, as described in the processing steps. These data were used to analyze precipitation and recharge in the study area as a whole and in the two regions.

The data release encapsulates geospatial data in support of the regional scale study, Coal Geology and Assessment of Coal Resources and Reserves in the Little Snake River coal field and Red Desert assessment area, Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming. The assessment area covers about 2,300 square miles of the Eastern portion of the 15,400 square mile Greater Green River Basin in Southwestern Wyoming. This release includes geospatial data for the study area boundary, depth to coal, thickness of coal, outcrops and reliability. These data were compiled from numerous sources, the primary one being a database of point data that resides in a separate data release.

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data along four flight lines were collected in Everglades National Park, Florida as part of a larger survey. Data were collected during October 2001. These lines, totaling 95.2 line-kilometers, repeated the path of four lines from earlier AEM survey collected in December 1994 (released under USGS Open-File Report 02-101 downloadable at https://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/ofr02101). Electromagnetic data were acquired with Dighem VRES frequency-domain system. Magnetic data were collected with a Scintrex CS2 cesium-vapor magnetometer. The nominal elevation of the electromagnetic system was 30 m. This data release includes raw and processed AEM data. This release also...

Field Data: The second ADCP data collection effort for this project was done on January 21, 2016 represented with these bathymetric point locations on the Green River near Tukwila, WA. The stream surface in the vicinity of the project area was relatively flat and water clarity was fair. Stream stage (water-level elevation) was 6.83 ft. higher relative to the July 2015 ADCP data collection effort. The upstream and downstream extent of the fishing site was identified by the Muckleshoot’s fisheries biologist Martin Fox to correspond with the tribes’ traditional fishing location. Reverse flow was first observed immediately along the right bank at the upstream end of the fishing site where the channel width slightly...

The Neversink River watershed (above the Neversink Reservoir) has been a focus of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) research regarding stream geochemistry, acidification, and ecology dynamics for decades. In 2019, the Water Mission Area Next Generation Water Observing Systems Program augmented the existing stream gage network there, including instrumentation to specifically characterize various aspects of groundwater discharge to streams. An important control on the spatiotemporal dynamics of groundwater discharge can be stream valley corridor depth to bedrock, otherwise conceptualized as the thickness of unconsolidated sediments sediments over the contiguous bedrock interface. In June 2019, and November 2020, passive...

Compressional- (P-) wave seismic refraction data were acquired in December 2018 and July 2019 along fourteen profiles within the spillway of Success Dam in Porterville, California. A new concrete ogee weir is planned for construction within the existing spillway, and the P-wave seismic velocity models will be used to inform further geotechnical investigations, including siting new geologic borings, and the advanced engineering design phases in terms of rock rippability and relative rock hardness/competency. Data acquisition, processing, and modeling were conducted collaboratively between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District. Data were acquired with Geometrics...
