This dataset contains reflectance and transmission spectra of unexpanded and expanded vermiculite ore, and handpicked flakes of phlogopite, hydrobiotite, and vermiculite. These samples were collected from mines near Enoree, South Carolina; Libby, Montana; Louisa, Virginia; Palabora, Llano, Texas; and South Africa. Spectra are identified as either reflectance or transmission in the alphanumeric file names and correlate to specpr record numbers designated in the manuscript figures in which they are shown. These transmission spectra were converted to absorbance in many of the figures. Water surface elevations within seven Willamette River off-channel features (OCF; alcoves and side channels) were measured using submerged pressure transducers. Transducers were installed from late May through mid-October, 2016, when discharge of the Willamette River was between approximately 5,500 and 45,000 cubic feet per second at Salem, Oregon (USGS gage 14191000) and 3,500 to 17,500 cubic feet per second at Harrisburg, Oregon (USGS gage 14166000). Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport, Texas on August 25 as a category 4 hurricane with wind gusts exceeding 150 miles per hour. As Harvey moved inland the forward motion of the storm slowed down and produced tremendous rainfall amounts to southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana. Historic flooding occurred in Texas and Louisiana as a result of the widespread, heavy rainfall over an 8-day period in Louisiana in August and September 2017. This dataset consists of 102 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2012-2014 in the Rio Grande Rift and southern Rocky Mountains. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data to improve regional conductivity models of the western United States. This work is in support of studies of the effect of lithospheric modification on electrical resistivity structure and tectonic evolution of the western United States.

This dataset contains results from electron microprobe analyses for expanded and unexpanded vermiculite samples. These data are provide for samples of vermiculite ore, expanded vermiculite insulation, horticultural products, aggregate, and packing materials derived from mines near Enoree, South Carolina; Libby, Montana; Louisa, Virginia; Palabora, South Africa; Jiangsu, China; and Llano, Texas. An ASCII text file of results is provided in comma-separated by value (csv) format. The file has the name “vermiculite_probe_microanalyses_data.csv”.
Data on gold deposits are extracted from an existing publication to enable analysis. The data comprise selected portions of a data set that are published by C.J. Hodgson in "Preliminary Report on the Timmins-Kirkland Lake Area Gold Deposits File," which is available online as a digital image of a report. As an image, the data set cannot be analyzed. Consequently, selected portions of the data set are re-published here in a text file. The datum for the latitude and longitude is not specified in the report and is assumed to be the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27). How local geomorphic and hydrologic features mediate the sensitivity of stream thermal regimes to variation in climatic conditions remains a critical uncertainty in understanding aquatic ecosystem responses to climate change. We used stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen to estimate contributions of snow and rainfall to 80 boreal streams and show that differences in snow contribution are controlled by watershed topography. Time series analysis of stream thermal regimes revealed that streams in rain-dominated, low-elevation watersheds were 5–8 times more sensitive to variation in summer air temperature compared to streams draining steeper topography whose flows were dominated by snowmelt. A cvs file containing field datasets used to develop regression models to predict sediment and nutrient retention services for stream within the Difficult Run watershed. Field measurements of floodplain deposition and bank erosion were provided in previously published datasets from Hupp et al. (2013) and Gellis et al. (2017). A detailed table summarizing the irrigated acreage by crop type and irrigation system was developed for the 2018 growing season (November 2017 and September 2018) for DeSoto County, Florida. The acreage totals presented are derived from the results of a cooperative project that mapped and field-verified irrigated fields in DeSoto County, Florida. In addition, the table provides acreage totals by crop type published by the U.S. Department of Commerce for 1978 and 1982 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for years between 1987 and 2012.
